I am perplexed by the Buy Sell thread here on the forums and have witnessed king tiers being sold for $300. I can understand the Grand King and Pro Tiers going for a markup because of the life time drafting perks but it really is hard to see the value in the king tier.
Those backing at Early Bird King and paying $90 must be very very happy. I guess its hard to know the value of the components but I think it is very unlikely that the starter decks are worth anywhere near the RRP of $10 as we know they will not contain any legendaries and will comprise of set 1 cards which are already going to be super flooded and cheap. Likewise set 1 boosters will not trend anywhere near $2.
I think the kickstarter was very well put together by CZE but somewhat miss leading using the artifical RRP to make a tier at least appear much better finanical value than it will be. Under this model 155 set 1 boosters and 4 starters have a RRP of $350 in reality though set 1 boosters will be closer to $1 and the starters closer to $5 for an actually value of $175. I think people have been hoodwinked in the secondary market by this RRP and think 300$ is value as they are getting at least $350 product plus all of the promotional cards and set 2 and set 3 boosters etc.
So who is right is $300 a steal of a king tier or a rip off only time will tell I guess but even though I am slacker I cant justify that kind of price hike on the Lotus Garden Tier. Id much rather go $550 for a pro as it least this has the chance of paying off nicely in 2-3 years of weekly drafts.
Well it's not really any different from someone who could afford to go in on a King tier at $120 but be unable/unwilling to spend $250, isn't it? Granted I personally wouldn't spend $300, but whatever.
You seem to be forgetting all of the stuff you get in addition to the starter decks and booster packs, though. You do get a lot.

You might want to make some paragraphs out of that bad boy. It can be annoying to read a wall of text like that.
Some random person, most likely a troll, offer 300 but never actually paid 300. It could also be a fake account boosting up the sale so the seller can get more, but we will never know.

Yes it does make you wonder if there have been attempts to hike up the price with fake posts. It will be really interesting looking back at the Hex Kickstarter in a 1-2 years time when the value of the components is better understood, and to workout where the true value lie. Personally I think it will be Pro Tier>Collector>Grand King but we shall see I laugh at the ridiculous speculation that the Lotus Garden will be worth $250 that's totally crazy
The big value comes mostly from the Kickstarter exclusives.
175 boosters =160-180$
4 starters = 0$ (1 free on account creation... those are worth nothing imo)
primal booster (15 rare & legs) = ~15$
3 Months VIP programm (12 booster + tournaments) = 12$ Summs up to 190-210$ value for shure
then you get
Alpha and Beta access = ~10$ (Slacker Backer minus the rewards) Lotus Garden worth ???(maybe in a year this limited card alone is worth 200$ who knows what comes)
producing a Lotus every day, that is necessary for competitive PVE decks.
Mercs for PVE (maybe OP? we do not know the regular mercs abilities)
dragon starter, probably not super expensive (flooded market etc.)
2x 5Alternate Art cards, again limited and priceless for collectors (worth a few $ + those are strong cards in general)
paying 300$ may seem insane now, but maybe the Kickstarter Exclusives are worth that much in a few months or years. Those limited cards will keep a value for shure, we just do not know it yet.
The starter decks you get from the Kickstarter/store for $10 each are not the same as what you get upon account creation.
link? if so it is +40$ (or +$ cardvalue)
i only read "Starter Deck"
the dragondeck states as Kickstarter Exclusive starter deck, the others don't.
so i assume they are the same that you get at account creation.
I also think that the starter deck, unless it will have something like a tresure chest (and it seems like it will not) will probebly worth 2-3$ tops.
10$ is a really bad deal.
It's 60 cards, that some of them are resources, so it's about 40-45 cards, with no legendery, no chests, knowen and probebly flooded cards...
I think I prefer 1 booster over it...
and the merc won't be worth money since they are not tradable, so the value is just how much you are willing to pay for it, but there is no market price.
300$ looks like way to much for me as well, but it you have a lot of money and have to get the exclusives, so I think that you can consider... buying the pro or the GK...
All pricing are with speculation that all those cards could be reused in the future. The packs are not worth really that much anymore because of the super inflation of them. So it really worth close to $1-$1.25.
When you join the game you get a starter deck for free, but remember you could also trade those cards, which means that you could make like 4 accounts to get all the free starter decks and then trade it off to the main account.
They are also promoting set rotations, so those KS exclusives may not work past set one. Most likely they will create a new map when you could that specific set. An example would be Set 2 be released with 3 new maps and a new campaign and only set 2 cards could be use in those maps.
The decks will be the same as released with a free account but they said the free ones will be account bound to prevent abuse / multiple accounts to farm
@Mark Fadden
Hi Mark, the free to play game begins the player with one starter, these are specifically designed for a great new player experience, the starters that will be sold separately (and are offered as rewards on this Kickstarter are different and slightly more advanced), none of the rewards you receive thru Kickstarter will diminish what you would have received otherwise.
As I said, what you get upon account creation is not the same thing as the decks you can buy in the store and get from the Kickstarter.
You also cannot trade any of the cards from the deck you get upon creation of your account.
I do not necessarily support the price of $300 but the value of boosters in even the medium term will likely stabilise well above $1. The volume of boosters available in KS is only high when viewed against the volume of KS as the player base.
As rewards are released and early investors look to pull platinum away from those entering the game late prices will plummet but once the initial supply is exhausted the source of boosters begin to determine the value. Demand has its part to play but the base cost will be determined by supply with prices only rising from there. There have been a few discussions on the supply side of things and barring a few limited sources the source price for boosters is above $1 so there will be little incentive to sell below this price unless demand is extremely low in which case the game will simply die.
Why is the source price for boosters over $1 when I can get them for $1 with VIP?
Because theoretically you can only get 4 per month which is 1 draft and 1 spare. So the supply at $1 each is limited, but agree it will pull the price far below the $2 CZE list price. Especially since the VIP pack still has a chance to go primal, meaning if the $1 price is inflated.
