If I have a Nightcrawler in a corner (Indoors map) and my opponent puts 2 of his figs next to Nightcrawler making a 2 blocking terrain + 2 Enemy figs "Box", is Nightcrawler trapped. Does he have to "fight his way out" or can he move using his HSS away from the two enemy figs?
If you are talking about moving through a diagonal between two opposing figures, yes, HS and LC give you the ability to do that without a breakaway. Any grounded figure can do it with a breakaway. If it is a solid line of opposing figures, no you can't. So it would take three figures to block Nightcrawler into a corner I think.

If this is what you mean, then Nightcrawler can simply move diagonally down-right. Remember that two diagonally adjacent figures block LoF, but do not actually create blocking terrain to stop adjacency or movement. Nothing is stopping Nightcrawler from leaving diagonally, nor would anything stop a normal figure who made a successful breakaway roll.
Code:
__
|NX
|XX
This, on the other hand, would stop Nightcrawler cold. In this case, he could not move anywhere without occupying the same square as an opposing figure, meaning he had no legal square in which he could move.
Can Fliers and LCers get out in this case (fully trapped)? What exactly does "ignores figure bases for purposes of movement" mean. Does it differ from friendly figures being able to move through squares occupied by other friendly figures?
This is What I Want(ed, circa GSX/2010): Nextwave ATA: 100 pts. may use all Team Abilities as long as force is only Nextwave keyword.
archaon02 .....I don't find it in the rules, pac or faq that a fig with LC can move through opposing fig's squares....did I miss it???? I understand that a flyer can go over opposing fig's squares. Can you clearify?

L/C does not specifically state that "this figure can move through opposing figures...". In stead, it say that it "ignores the effects of characters and hindering terrain on movement...".
By 'ignores', it means 'treat as if it isn't there'. This is the same reason that a L/Cer is not stopped by becoming adjacent to an opposing figure.
Not everything is specifically spelled out. Some things need to be interpreted.....
Also, note how this differs from HSS (and why non-flying HSSers cannot move through opposing characters). It says that they may "move through squares adjacent to
opposing characters." Very different than "ignores the effects of characters and hindering terrain on movement.".
