Kosian Shieldtome and Magic Healing / Woundkiller(ing); Is it possible?
Like my long question with an Inferno figure receiving Magic Healing from a sword type figure, or receiving healing through wound killer, in which Sigma answered YES.
Do you think it is possible for a figure under the protection of Kosian Shieldtome to receive magic healing / wound killer(ing) (without pointblank) from a friendly figure???
I'll need to go look at the text on the respective cards. If memory serves, however, Kosian Shieldtome basically prevents the figure from being targeted by a Ranged Combat attack, and I don't think it has any exceptions for "friendly" ones, and unlike Inferno, wasn't worded to seem to just restrict specific types of attacks. If so, I think the ruling would be "no, you can't do that" because the attack itself would be prohibited.
How are you doing Sigma? Here is the wording on the card:
Quote
Wand required. The wielder and any friendly figures in base contact with the wielder cannot be the targets of ranged combat attacks unless the attacker uses the point blank or precision proficiency.
I don't think it would require the use of point black or precision for magic healing. It appears to be a card whose purpose is to protect against certain damaging attacks. I would not say that the relic needs to be dropped in order for magic healing to take place.
That's probably the intent, though I'd say as-written, you couldn't do it. Inferno's wording kind of leaves an opening to allow friendly attacks, but this one seems to prevent ALL ranged combat attacks except with those proficiencies (which can't really be used with Magic Healing, but I guess could be used with Woundkiller).
This is another one of those cases that I'd probably be discussing with the designers and putting something in the FAQ. i think the best bet is, just make sure you and your opponent agree :D
You are right Sigma, we can only go on the text as written now. While it seems strange, and while I doubt it was the intent, I have to concede that in a tournament type setting today, magic healing would technically be prohibited as the card is written.
