What is up with the lack of Horsemen Of Apocalypse keyword??

I was first disappointed that Regenesis LE Gambit & Archangel were missing it. More so because we finally got Remy as Death. And now we have XDPS Archangel and he's missing it too. Sad times.

The only thing more insulting would be Animated series versions of characters toting extra keywords from their 616 counterpart (I'm looking at you Sauron). Definitely not a fan of whatever WK has going on. Thankfully can house rule that they have the HoA keyword.

WK's keyword screw-ups are par for the course (just look at Regenesis Angel and Iceman), but this is one situation where it doesn't seem like a mistake. Specifically the Gambit Death LE, like, there's no way that gets made and someone just misses putting the keyword on him. Which means it's most likely a mandate by Marvel. Which means it's particularly bizarre, because we've seen the Horsemen keyword as recently as XXS with the AoA Sinister and Cyclops chases. It's a very weird situation that we'll probably never get an actual explanation for.

We didn't get a proper Apocalypse either I'd bet their rationale was "why bother giving them a Keyword based around a character who's not in the set"

I haven't followed things since I can't afford to buy right now... but no Apocalypse at all in the set?! That's insanely stupid! That guy had probably the second most screen time out of all the villains other than Magneto.

Out to pasture.

I'm in the opposite camp here. The more key words, the better. I want more ways to play with my toys, not less. If I'm playing an accurate theme team, based on character selection, I should get the bonuses that are already built into the game. Otherwise they would have to make a whole other X set along with the animated one just to give me an Xavier with the Illuminati keyword to go along with his brothers from the BP set. I'm still so mad that there are no Beasts with the Illuminati keyword. And I can't even use the Avengers keyword as a sub because Black Bolt doesn't have it, despite the book being called New Avengers. Game design changes too frequently to rely on older versions just to get the right keyword. We've only had 3 Marvel Sauron's in the game ever. Do you really think we should wait another 5 years just so he can have one extra keyword?

As far as horsemen go, there has to be some behind the scenes reason they are restricting access to Apocalypse. I have no idea what though.

This is why we need My Little Pony clix.

I heard some rumors of Marvel putting the kibosh on Apocalypse & his Horsemen in merchandise following the Apocalypse movie under-performing. I've yet to corroborate this, but it sounds possible given the longstanding F4 embargo.

Now this is within the realm of possibility. Hadn't even correlated the movie and clix. Then again I didnt dare try to watch that movie either. LOL

I’m also of the belief that Marvel likely prevented Wizkids from referencing Apocalypse in any of the recent sets. In addition to obvious characters not getting the Horseman keyword and him not being in the Animated set, the Archangel from the Animated set doesn’t mention Apocalypse in any of his special powers, despite being a version that is obsessed with him. We also didn’t get any AoA con LEs this year, getting the Asgardian themed Rogue and Storm instead.

No more Horsemen of Apocalypse problem.
