While we are getting the umpteenth version of Spider-Man and Superman, there are still oh so many more or less popular characters out there in comics that are still waiting impatiently for their Heroclix debut. In this edition of Unclixed, it's someone NOT from Marvel and DC, it's Archie!
No, this is not an issue of Bringing Back Indy, though if TheFreak opts to cover the Archie universe for an edition of it down the road, it’ll be understandable.
Archie first appeared in comics back in 1941. As a simple comic about teenagers getting into all kinds of adventures. Him and his friends have been part of a property that’s been in television and movies in addition to all the comics. But in the many decades of Archie existing in comics, he’s crossed over with multiple other properties. Which we’ll cover in the “Who would he play with” section.
Why clix him? Well, Archie has been a staple of comicdom and pop culture for a long time, and as comics are more than just two high profile brands, HeroClix also should be. And Archie content in recent years has explored more concepts than just teens making puns at a malt shoppe. A TV series like Riverdale has delved into more intense action-oriented subject matter, and the comics have ventured into the supernatural, the post-apocalyptic and even the superheroic. But even if HeroClix couldn’t translate those particular iterations of Archie into HeroClix, he wouldn’t be the first non-powered person to exist within the game either.
Who would he play with? Archie has teamed up with the likes of The Punisher, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, has appeared in Gen13 and if we can work HorrorClix into casual games of HeroClix (takes some doing, but it’s workable) then The Predator in there. Archie also appeared in the DC crossover “Harley & Ivy Meet Betty & Veronica”, but admittedly that concept demands some other characters besides Archie to be adapted into Clix.
What would his dial look like? It’s really going to depend on what kind of Archie is getting adapted. Zombie fighting Archie from “Afterlife with Archie”? Boxer Archie from “Riverdale”? Superhero Archie as Pureheart the Powerful? Take your pick.
Though during the process of writing this article, I looked into the Creative Corner to see if any folks had ever made fan dials for him and all the examples I saw involve a trait for Archie that would require the player to choose between Betty or Veronica getting certain benefits depending on the choice and all of them were brilliant!
So what would your dials for Archie look like folks? Feel free to reply as that's it for this edition of Unclixed! Be here next week for a new edition of Comic Accurate! And in two weeks, we will be back with our annual Unclixed look forward at the coming year!
If they do Archie and his crew (Jughead, Betty, Veronica, Reggie, Kevin), then they should do Scooby Doo and friends (Shaggy, Scooby, Thelma, Fred, Daphne, Scrappy Doo).
Back when I first started playing clix, I did an Archie and the Punisher theme one night as I had both variants of that comic cover. Funny thing is, I only had. a few clix and I had to substitute for everyone...including punisher.
The guy running the event didn't seem too impressed. I misread the rules and was only supposed to have like one sub figure. But he let me play and it was really fun. I had won one of my first LE's-the goblin queen-so she was one of the teachers. All the teachers had mind control and Archie and his gang were a bunch of no-power bystanders or some such. It was really fun.
But God, please, don't ever let them really clix him.

Many moons ago, WizKids actually announced a Scooby-Doo set. Sadly it was canceled because it was very near the dark times.
Ok, not to be a negative Nancy, but this isn't really a good idea. Heroclix is a combat game, and these characters just don't fit. I have always been opposed to supporting characters like JJJ or Lois Lane having combat dials, taking up many spots in sets over the years that would have been better served by actual superheroes, villains, and aliens/ultrahumanoids like Eternals and New Gods.
For God so loved the world, that he gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

I hear where you're coming from. I believe that a property doesn't belong in Clix unless that property's main form of conflict resolution is combat. Certainly, that would disqualify at least the classic Archie, who rarely got violent enough to belt Reggie one.
However, if it were to happen, I can think of several characters who could be useful in combat. Sabrina the Teenage Witch could bring PC and perhaps TK. Big Moose might qualify for a limited form of Super Strength. Archie's natural Leadership qualities often go overlooked. The conniving Veronica might surely have some Outwit.

No, you aren't being negative at all. I collect the figures and don't even play the game so I like the extra figures. But if they are taking the place of characters that actually battle, then that isn't cool. There are many heroes and villains not even clixed that should be.
