I've recently got hold of my very first (and probably last) Nightcrawler!
Now, my burning question is this: How do you guys use your Nightcrawler and with what teams do you use him?
I'm trying to think of a team to use him in. I don't want to base the team around him, or use a hooker bomb. And also, I'm trying to keep it an X-Men themed team. Love to know your collective thoughts and opinions.
You can team him with Beast and use his Perplex. I also like to use someone with Stealth, like Marrow, so he can hide behind them after his attack.
Be aware of people with TK, Outwit, Barrier and Smoke Cloud. TK and Outwit are self-explanatory.
Barrier and Outwit will trap you where you stand and allow your opponent to taxi someone up to slap you next turn when the Barrier/Smoke Cloud comes down.
You can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding.
Spidersense enjoys hiking and taking his Nightcrawler for long walks on the beach, where he is inevidibly captured and processed in a mutant concentration camp.
My X-man theam team with Nightcrawler (I call him Kurt Wagner, or Kurt, as a kinsman) consists of...
Nightcrawler-U
Shadowcat-U
Storm-V
Logan-E (with a custom painted wolverine (brown costume) on the base)
and Beast-V
I also trade out the Best-V for Colossus-R if I don't mind loosing. That way I have my 3 favorite X-men on the team. Colossus, Wolverine, and Nightcrawler.
The team has one good shooter with Storm-V. and a good stand off hit and runner with Nightcrawler-U. And has a good melee fighter with Logan-E. Beast's perplex is used to amp up Nightcrawlers damage to 3 to get past invulnerablility. Also on every other turn it amps up Logan's damage to 4 (sometimes with flurry). Although don't be afraid of throwing Beast into combat if you think it will be a deciding blow. If he gets hit off Perplex, hopefully he will end up on a Support click. Shadowcat is used as a taxi and damage sponge (using X-ability); although the ranged attack has come in handy occasionally. It would probably be better to use another version of Shadowcat, but cannot resist using the Unique (as it was one of only two U's I got from the set).

Thor Odinson
Nightcrawler U 83
Warren Worthington III LE 71 *
Storm V 52
Gambit E 44
Sarah (Marrow) LE 44
Wolfsbane V 39 *
Shadowcat U 36
Jean Grey R 31
Total - 400
It's all X-Men. The 2 with the * beside made up 110 points of the team I wasn't sure what to do with, but they both did quite well. If the LE's aren't an option the EV versions of Marrow work well, and the RV Archangel's fit the theme, although the ranged dual INCAPACITATE with the LE was nice.
I taxiied Nightcrawler, Jean and Sarah out the first turn, had Gambit hide in a bush. Next Gambit PERPLEX-ed NC's damage, Jean flung him out he smacked and returned. Sarah was there to absorb any pushes (as if they had WILLPOWER ) or hits and then Regenerate back to do it again.
Most of the teams I faced focused on Nightcrawler and got picked off by the rest.
Here's a theme team of X-MEN for 300 pts.that might be decent.
R PSYLOCKE 29PTS
V GAMBIT 51PTS
V STORM 52PTS
U NIGHTCRAWLER 83PTS
U PHOENIX 85PTS
You can tk Nightcrawler out with Phoenix after Gambit uses perplex for damage or av on him and then have NC return safely behind friendly figs.Storm could follow that up with an attack for 4 more at range. You can put Psylocke behind Gambit and /or Phoenix for the enhancement and pound at range.Having a 12 range with Phoenix could be a huge advantage. There are different ways you can play this, these are just a couple of basic ways to play this and hopefully be successful.
Throwing in a Unique Wolverine is a nice added bonus!
