Hey everyone! Every so often, someone comes up with a great scenario that could be a lot of fun! This time, BridgeGuy submitted a very timely scenario and even wrote it all up! So this week, I'm letting BridgeGuy have at it. Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time to Jam!
I just recently discovered that there were a whole slew of little 8x8 maps that were put out quite a while ago. One of these maps is a half-court basketball map. We used that map for a 3-on-3, 200-pt, “warm-up” game at our venue before an event. Very quick and fun, and it got me thinking of a scenario…..
“Got a Basketball Jones”
Now that the NBA finals just ended, a new Space Jam movie just released, and 3-on-3 basketball is a new Olympic sport, what better time for this scenario?!? Time to break out your Dale Suderman!
Map: 8x8 Half Court (from Wolverine & X-Men set)
Team: Starting force 3 figures, 200 total points. Sideline 3 figures.
2 actions per turn (before Leadership or other bonuses).
All figures must be single-base characters and your force must include the following figures:
Starters:
Guard – must have standard damage symbol. Must have printed range of 3 or greater.
Forward – must have standard damage symbol.
Center – can have the giant or standard damage symbols. Must have printed range of zero.
Bench:
On your sideline, you must have one of each of the above figure types as subs.
When a Starter is KO’d and scored, you may place a Bench figure from your sideline into your starting area. You are not required to replace position for position, but the Bench figure must have a point value that is equal to or less than the KO’d figure it replaces.
No other figure replacement mechanics can be used in this game, and no Shifting Focus characters are permitted. No standard or special objects, relics, resources, or equipment are permitted on your force.
For this game, the squares containing the basketball hoop are considered special terrain, which can be moved through, but may not be occupied by any character, and cannot be targeted by Perplex. During game set-up, place a special “basketball” light object in a special terrain square. This special object may be picked-up, held, or dropped, but may not be used in an attack on another character, and cannot be destroyed.
If a character holding the basketball object is hit by a close attack, the attacker “steals” the ball and is then holding the object after resolutions. If a character holding the basketball object is hit by a range attack, the object is dropped in a square adjacent to or occupied by the hit character (square chosen by attacker).
A character holding the basketball object, and NOT occupying a square along the edge of the map, may make a RANGE Object Attack or CLOSE Object Attack, targeting a special terrain square as if it was a Giant-size character with a printed Defense value of 17. If the attack hits, instead of doing damage, the attacker scores:
20 pts if attacker is occupying a square inside or on the large white arc.
30 pts if attacker is occupying a square outside the large white arc.
After resolutions, the basketball object is placed in a special terrain square (square chosen by opponent).
Thanks BridgeGuy!! That's it for this edition of Causing A Scene-ario! Take this out for a spin, and report back how it played!
And please, if you're going to rep anyone, rep BridgeGuy!
Contrary to popular belief, I do know what I'm doing
We just spent all night playing a Basketball Heroclix tourney among 5 players, pure gold...!
Give it a shot everyone, you are sure to have a great time...!
HaHa! Total coincidence, I kid you not. But assist is yours sir!
I wrote this up about 2 weeks ago or so, then edited it last week and sent it in to theFreak. Kind of obscure topic for 2 independent posts in the same week. But great minds think alike, am I right Timo?

Wow...! Well, it is Olympic season and Space Jam 2 just came out so I guess sports are on people's mind. That's wild that we both had a similar concept around the same time.
