While we are getting the umpteenth versions of Spider-Man, Wolverine, Batman and Superman, there are still oh so many more or less popular characters out there that are still waiting impatiently for their Heroclix debut. In this edition of Unclixed, we look forward to the new year with our top ten wants for 2022!
A new year is upon us! 2021 is... mildly better than last year? Maybe? No, not really. Covid hasn't really gone away and in spite of vaccines and boosters that everyone should get, we're still feeling the effects of the pandemic on the gaming world. I know I still haven't played a game since early 2020. But Heroclix is chugging forward and 2022 has a War of the Realms and Disney+ themed sets on the way. But beyond those? Who knows? But let's see if we can get the annual look forward out of the way with some characters we can hope to see down the road!
With all that said, let’s start the list, which won't be including anyone this article series has already covered in the past. In fact, for the most part, you’re not going to see a lot of names from the past on this list at all...
HONORABLE MENTION: Literally anything that's not Marvel or DC.
HeroClix history is rife with WizKids taking some stabs at adapting other intellectual properties into the game. IndyClix! Pacific Rim! Lord of the Rings! Star Trek! And as we wait for the ever-delayed WWE HeroClix to be released from corporate limbo, we've heard less and less of Clix announcing sets outside of the "Big Two". Here's hoping 2022 broadens the horizons of the game once more.
10. The students of Titans Academy
DC has gone through some major upheavals in the last couple years. A corporate takeover of Warner Brothers, the exit of Dan Didio, many layoffs, and the very least tumultuous of things is a soft reboot of their entire universe with Infinite Frontier. The comics have been undergoing a lot of creative shakeups and introducing a LOT of new characters. One of the more engaging titles to come from the new direction is Teen Titans Academy, a book introducing several fun new characters to DC's pantheon! Gorilla Gregg! Bratgirl! Bolt! Some other students who are still working on their codenames! And most notably, Red X, crossing over into comics from the Teen Titans cartoon.
9. The students of Strange Academy
Turns out, DC isn't the only company thinking about teaching kids with special gifts. Writer Skottie Young rolled out his own super-school with a Hogwarts for the Marvel Universe! Featuring students from Earth, Limbo, Asgard, The Dark Dimension and more, we get another potential subtheme for HeroClix sets bringing the future of superheroing (and villainy) into the game!
8. The characters of Infinite Destinies
In the wake of Infinity Wars, the ever-coveted Infinty Stones took on a whole new status quo. The sextet of cosmically powered objects had now joined with people! As a result, a handful of people had now become much more powerful and their lives affected forever! So Marvel held a crossover event in several annuals to introduce a few more of these characters! Star (Reality) and Overtime (Time) had been introduced in 2019, but 2021 brought us Quantum, Multitude, and The Prince of Power (the Mind stone host is still unknown)! All would make fine additions to HeroClix!
7. Masked Raider
The Masked Raider is a character with a history stretching all the way back to Marvel Comics #1. Now like other western characters, the original Masked Raider has not been made in HeroClix. Nor has the version I'm focusing on, the newer one that was introduced in the Incoming! one shot and delved more into in Marvel Comics #1000 and the current Defenders miniseries. With more about them to be revealed soon, this could hopefully give more motivation to them possibly appearing in a HeroClix set down the road!
6. Dylan Brock
2021 was a good year for Venom. Sure, you have the sequel to the hit movie that came out, but Donny Cates' epic run on the book concluded with the King in Black event. And one of the most important characters from that comic run was Eddie Brock's long lost son, Dylan. Currently, Dylan is taking over for dead old dad as the Lethal Protector! So HeroClix could make him as Venom, or Dylan as a little kid connecting with Symbiotes and his cat/Symbiote pal Sleeper as a bystander!
5. Red Widow
Since Jason Aaron has taken over as the creative force behind the Avengers, he's introduced some wild concepts to the book. Prehistoric Avengers, a tournament to become the Phoenix, and The Age of Khonshu! One of the arcs that's been running throughout the series has been a mysterious graduate of The Red Room getting involved with the affairs of the Avengers and one of the many players in Mephisto's machinations against them. So... bring her into HeroClix!
4. Xialing
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was one of the bigger theatrical releases of this year. Now while it might not be that much of a shock that an MCU would rake in big bucks at the box office, what was a surprise was that unlike Black Widow and Eternals, Shang-Chi did not get a small gravity feed release. Which is a shame since characters from the movie would make for a fun mini-set. One of whom being Shang-Chi's sister, the formidable Xialing. Now there's a chance you might be saying, "Arsenalroy2k, Shang-Chi has a lot of siblings in the comics that haven't been made either! Some introduced as recently as Gene Luen Yang's current Shang-Chi series! Why not put them on the list?" Good question. They should be made, but players might be more familiar with the widely seen multi-million dollar movie over the comics. So this Sis gets on the list!
3. Wonder Girl (Yara Flor)
One of the precursors to DC's Infinite Frontier was the Future State event. Which took readers into the not-so-distant future of all the titles. Were these futures merely portents of things to come, or destinies the books could try and avoid? That's still ongoing, but in some of these futures, we were introduced to new characters that will shape the DC Universe going forward. One of whom is Yara Flor, a Brazilian transplant to the US that through a wild series of events, became Hera's Champion and the latest to take on the name Wonder Girl.
2. Batman (Jace Fox)
Hey, you know how I mentioned that Future State introduced new characters taking on big roles in the DCU? Another one was Timothy 'Jace' Fox, the estranged son of Batman ally Lucius Fox. Utilizing Bat-tech he discovered his father had in storage, and needing to get a jump on things as the Fear State had kicked things off, Jace is fighting crime and corruption in Gotham... and soon in the Big Apple! Personally speaking, I think this entry on the list is a sure thing, since we know how much HeroClix loves bat-characters.
1. Superman (Calvin Ellis)
Our final entry in this year's list was debuted all the way back in Final Crisis. Grant Morrison introduced us to Calvin Ellis, not just Superman of Earth-23, but the President of the United States. He would then be the leader of Justice Incarnate, which protects the Multiverse. He's taking a much bigger role in the DCU as of late, so it might be high time to bring him into HeroClix.
So what unclixed characters are you hoping to see in the upcoming sets? What do you think themes will comprise sets for the back end of 2022? Feel free to reply as that's it for this edition of Unclixed! It'll be back, right alongside Comic Accurate. Soonish.

I have to admit that I did not expect these characters to make top 2.
While I will be editing this when I think of more. Right now I really want from DC these characters.
1. Legion of Super-Heroes keyword. Light Lass/Lightning Lass who has never been clixed.
2. Legion of Super-Heroes keyword. A remake of Element lad in his old Black & Green outfit.
3. Bludhaven/Gotham City Underword keyword. A updated remake of Blockbuster from his old REV form. He is currently a major villain of Nightwing and currently the crime boss in Bludhaven.
4. Bludhaven keyword. Melinda Zucco, Nightwing's half sister and Mayor of Bludhaven. She definitely would be an ally of Nightwing's in the game.
5. Justice League keyword. A new Hippolyta since she is currently on my favorite team the Justice League.
6 & 7. Metropolis keyword. I really would like made the characters of Martha and Jonathan Kent. We only have them as bystander pogs from Hypertime and I feel for a storyline game, having these two would help make it more interesting.
8. Gotham City Underworld keyword. Vengeance, who is Bane's daughter and is out to kill the Joker who murdered her father. I think it would be interesting to have her also have the Batman Ally team ability or keyword if their is a Joker on the opposing team.
From Marvel for now its these characters.
1. Marvel Knights keyword. Elektra as Daredevil would be great. She would be a great kick-ass character to have in close combat attacks.
2. Spider-Man Family keyword. I know the dial would be very short, but I want an Aunt May figure and I don't care if its the Marisa Tomei version or the older version. We have sculpts of Peter, Gwen, Mary Jane and many other "Spidey" civilians. Why not Aunt May.
The Infinite Destinies characters would all be great.
I did a bit of a dive into Thor on the Marvel Unlimited app and I really want to see Volstagg as War Thor, Thori, Hildegarde, Toothgnasher, and Toothgrinder.
Jo-Venn and N’Kalla.
Clearing out all my D.C. H/W current. All haves for trade. Lots of generic figures.
OK, so 1st up, I want a DC set of colossal 2x2 base pieces for DC. I just love playing these oversized pieces and really want to see WizKids make a batch of these and see what they come up with. Sure I have a bunch of specifics.
1. Chemo. 2x2 base. Only character from the DC Giants set of long ago not remade. Ever.
2. El Dorado. Kind of the last Super-Friend I need. With the Trouble Alert trait included. Honorable mention: Cyborg with the same treatment.
3. Lighning Lass of the Legion of Super-Heroes, hopefully with a bunch of her teammates in tow. It has been too long.
4. Mogo, the Green Lantern Planet. If they can do Solaris the living sun as a HeroClix, I see no reason Mogo cannot be made as a 2x2 based clix.
5. Ranx, the Yellow Lantern City. Yes, we got Ranx as a map, but I would really like to see this as a mini of a futuristic city scape on a 2x2 base.
6. Longshadow. We got a whole set of JLU. Why not make clix of Longshadow, Wind Dragon, Juice, Downpour and Shifter? Longshadow gets a huge sculpt on a 2x2 base.
7. Perpertua. Dark Knights Metal gave birth to 4 issue mini series and an expansive Justice League tale of 39 issues, with follow up that led to Dark Knight's Death Metal. Yes, we've gotten some big time players from this, but we could get some big size characters as well, like Perpetua. Honorable mention: the World Forger.
8. Starman Will Payton. The Justice League run mentioned in #7 brought this Starman back to the big time and explained why he was gone so long.
9. Naomi. The Wonder Woman 80 set gave us a bunch of the most recent Young Justice run. I'd like to see the rest. And Naomi has been in the most recent run of Justice League. And Naomi is getting her own show on the CW. Honorable mention: Jinny Hex.
10. Zauriel the Angel. It's been a long time since we've seen him. Was he ever made in his "Golden Eagle Armor" that he sported after he joined the Justice League? The last time I saw him in the comics it was with the cast of Justice League Dark. Since they had a recent comic run and are currently the back up story in the Bendis run of Justice League, perhaps it is time the whole Dark team was revisited. Honorable mention: Nightmare Nurse whom WizKids skipped last time.

Most Wanted:DC Super Friends - El Dorado, Rima.
Finish the classic Legion of Super-Heroes - Light(ning) Lass, Ferro Lad, Chemical King, Quizlet.
My list may be a bit weirder than most but here goes:
10.) Herkimer, the Crocodile Man.
Long time foe of Shazam aka Captain Marvel. He and a few friends even had a cameo in the Shazam movie. Could give us more Monster Society of Evil.
9.) Blue Snowman.
Flush out the Godwatch keyword.
8.) Zara of the Crimson Flame.
See reason #9.
7.) IBAC.
Empowered by four of the most evil and terrifying men to have ever walked the earth: Ivan the Terrible, who supplies Terror, Cesare Borgia, who gives Ibac Cunning, Attila the Hun, who gifts him with Fierceness, and Caligula, the sponsor of Cruelty. Another Captain Marvel villain, and member of the Monster Society of Evil.
6.) Goblin 2099.
More of a cross between Mysterio and a Goblin than a true Goblin. Great foe of Miguel.
5.) Venom 2099.
Another great villain from the 2099 world.
4.) Plant Man.
Seriously, why has this guy never gotten recognition.
3.) Sprat.
“Partner” of Death’s Head.
2.) Viper (Jordan Stryke).
A great Captain America villain! Short lived to be sure, but he was a founding member of the Serpent Squad. Which was the predecessor of the Serpent Society. So the Serpent Society keyword could gain a member.
1.) Vulture 2099.
My #1 want in clix. Favorite villain from the Spidey 2099 run.
Here's a few that I'd love to see Clixed very soon:
Jo Mullein, Green Lantern
The All-Mother (Freyja, Idunn, and Gaea)
Mister Misery from Doctor Strange (would fit in with your Strange Academy kids)
Thori the Hel Hound
Bats the Ghost Dog
Those last two can be bystanders. Either way, I have a mighty need!
i would like the rest of the avengers academy characters that never got made. i'd love more age of apocalypse characters(including apocalypse). DC has so many characters to make, so literally just any of the ones that's popped up in the last few years. all the future state, and characters from the last batman story would be dope. oh, and the characters DC made yrs back to get new readers into their books like silencer would be dope.
