This thread will be about your favorite Keyword based teams I’m not looking for a list of individual pieces. I’m looking for a list of keyword you like using.
Example
For me I really like Green lantern corps, justice league, Batman family, Batman enemy, Teen Titans.
Avenger,Aim,Spider-Man family, sinister syndicate,X-men,Brootherhood, SHIELD.
these aren’t really in any particular order.
I like each one for different reasons.
I don’t generally play generic theme teams but there’s no right or wrong answers here.
If you want to list why you like a particular theme by all means.
For me it’s generally the wise selection each team has available.
In terms of "Big 2" comic fandom, I have been much more of a fan of DC books than Marvel, yet my DC favoritism has typically not been team books. The disparity in DC and Marvel HeroClix releases, as well as the general sense of HeroClix keywords (and dial designs/costs) being "behind the curve" has me favor Marvel over DC.
Nevertheless, on the DC side I'd like more options to build a variety of standard forces:
Legion of Super-Heroes
Justice League International
Suicide Squad
Justice League Dark / Secret Six
I like the concept of the multi-colored Lantern Corps, but in Clix they've pretty much become niche versions of mainstream characters. LSH is my personal bete noir, because the dials generally have been so over-costed, and the roster has been relatively poorly considered. I mean, if we can get full classic rosters of Saturday Morning Super Friends, Teen Titans and X-Men in 300 points, it ought to be possible to get more than a few Legionnaires on a force.
Now... closer to the spirit of the OP, the HeroClix keyword teams I like tend to be Marvel, and they are:
X-Men, with special consideration for adjacent keywords like Hellfire Club, Horsemen and Arrako... with some glances at Starjammers and Marauders. Between reasonable dial costs, design synergy and a relatively large roster of existing (in clix) characters... I find it easy to be motivated by not just "build around" certain pieces or to match comic-inspired teams.
I have a personal fondness for the HeroClix "Venomized" characters (Monster), even though as a comic concept I think of these as a good example of a 1990s comic "bad idea".
I also have a fondness for Marvel's "Bad Guy" teams like Masters of Evil, Thunderbolts and Robots. I can't say that I always think about building around those keywords (like I have done for Hellfire Club or Horsemen) however.
I tend to lean toward generic keyworded teams partly because it allows a more diverse options for team building. And it helps me use more of my collection, and makes things more interesting. Such as:
scientist
martial artist
monster
mystical
spy
animal
For named teams I have been favoring Fantastic Four, and more recently have been focusing again on Marvel mutants. In the past I've favored Brotherhood and Freedom Force teams (villains are fun) but I'm now focusing on X teams, primarily X-Men. By the way the Morlocks are a sad lot, Heroclix-wise.
Mainstays have been Thunderbolts of Evil, Apokolpis, Sinister Syndicate, Intelligencia, Legion of Doom, and Secret Society of Super Villains. For hero types I've always been a fan of Batman Family and Spider-Man Family.
Non-Generic
The Maggia
Founders
The Inhumans
B.P.R.D.
Sinestro Corps.
Shi'ar/Imperial Guard
Hammer Industries
Lethal Legion
Negative Zone
Masters of Evil.
J.S.A..
Invaders
I also liked Hydra back in the day, even before the MCU.
Generic
Robot
Animal
Future
Warrior
Soldier
I used to collect and play Armor, but a few years ago I'd finally hit the saturation point and got sick of Iron Mans.
Made-up
Get off my lawn! (Gray or white haired characters with beards)
The GreenMan team (Plant related characters.)
You can tell I've stopped playing years ago. But I still love the game and all of my friends that play it.
"Big whoop, I'm spooning a Barrett .50 cal. I could kill a building."
-Sterling Mallory Archer
"Alcohol may have been a factor."
We're overdue for Wizkids to make Joe on the Lawmaster and other 2000AD characters.
