I haven't posted here for quite a while but one of the friends I made playing this game needs help.

Duane Thomas aka TheFreak, who has been in the clix community since the beginning, has had a stroke. He was rushed to the hospital on January 13th. Today, the 15th, he became unresponsive and had to have emergency surgery. He is currently sedated. He has been a contributor for HCrealms and has been a local judge for over 2 decades. Anything you can to do help him and his wife out with their medical bills while he is battling for his life would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, while I don't think he and I ever engaged in one on one interactions, we've been together for countless years of discussions on these forums. I really wish him and his family well, he's another one of those staples of the 'Realms who you get used to seeing after 10+ years.

Thank you to everyone that has had him in your thoughts, has been able to donate or has helped share this. It's very much appreciated. A few of you have reached out and asked for an update. We hope to have an update on his condition tomorrow but as of currently he is still being sedated. I will pass on info from his wife as soon as I have it.

Thank you for letting us know and acting as the mediator on this. It's always heartening to see people rally for the good of a player and friend, and I think we all hope that we'd have the same support if something happened to ourselves.

Unfortunately nothing substantial yet. I talked to his wife today and he is out sedation. He is making some progress but from what it sounds like it's been slow progress and he has been sleeping most of his days. As soon as I have another update I will post here.

People hear the word STROKE and an image comes to mind but there are actually different types of stroke depending on where in the body the blockage happens and some strokes can happen because of an aneurysm. An aneurysm is when the wall of a blood vessel becomes weak and ruptures this process can take a very long time decades even or it can happen quickly. It's the unpredictable nature of the aneurism's severity that make them so dangerous.

I'm still waiting for his wife to give me another update. I know this has been very hard on her and I am just passing on the info as I have been given it.

I finally have an update from his wife: "Duane is off the ventilator now and doing well with that. We are in hopes he will be out of the ICU and into the rehab section later this week to continue to work on his mobility. Still a long road ahead but he is grateful for all the well wishes from you all that I have passed along."
