Are Marvel and DC gods current powers based off Kevin Sorbo Hercules?
Now obviously a number of the gods in Marvel and DC predated TV show Hercules and a number of them are stronger than Kevin Sorbo Hercules such as Marvel’s Hercules, however have many of their powers basically just became based off of Kevin Sorbo’s Hercules' model?
To further explain, lets look at Sorbo Hercule’s powers:
- His strength is his most defining feature of his powers.
- He has some durability. Mostly can withstand blunt force. Has a degree of energy and magic resistance as shown in the numerous times he’s been shot by fireballs and lightning blasts and got back up. However he’s also been shown to be injured by stabbing weapons like arrows and blades.
- He has some quick reflexes, but not actual super speed.
Okay how many gods in Marvel and DC does this description currently fit? More Marvel than DC since the gods in DC aren’t as fleshed out. There are some differences like how I might be mistaken, but your average Asgardian don’t have any energy or magic resistance since durability wise they’re just suppose to be a few times denser than a regular human. However for the most part, it fits many of them. Some of them originally weren’t that easy to stab in the past like Thor, but the current timeline he’s been easier to stab as I have seen random characters do things like pick up a icicle and spear him with his back turned.
Wonder Woman is also understandable since that is a weakness to her durability, but it seems like too many gods in Marvel and DC nowadays have picked up the Sorbo Hercules model in how their powers work like.
That said, I think Marvel is veering Thor and the rest of the gods towards a more "MCU" style. At least, power-wise.
That said, I agree that DC seems to be clinging a bit to the Sorbo-type gods (power-wise).
