Welcome to the August Dial Design Contest! These are the general rules of the contest are simple:
Anyone can submit and/or cast votes during any of the three rounds. Each round features a new design parameter and participants have a week to complete, submit, and edit their single-dial (unless otherwise specified) entry right here in the thread, after which the community will vote on their favourite dials. At the end of the voting phase, the most votes win the round, and the most votes after three rounds wins the contest. Constructive comments are always welcome. Language not conducive to the current PAC (including updates from SMBA) may affect a judge's voting consideration, so please avoid use of retired terms and symbols. Character selection may come from any medium unless specified, but references for non-mainstream characters should be included. Please use the Dial Generator provided in the Units section.
As a meta rule, during voting phases, please do not quote entire dials when making comments, to make things easier to read.
Round deadlines will be the following: ROUND 1:
ENTRIES AUG 1 – 7, VOTING FROM AUG 8 – 14 ROUND 2:
ENTRIES AUG 8 – 14, VOTING FROM AUG 15 – 21 ROUND 3:
ENTRIES AUG 15 – 21, VOTING FROM AUG 22 – 28
With the final winner being announced AUG 29.
SPECIAL RULE: AN AUGUST MONTH OF CHARACTERS Each entry this month will have a weekly prompt, but a special bonus point will be awarded for those that create an entry using the “Ruler” or “Celebrity” keyword.
ROUND 1: Barbenheimer
Design a dial that showcases two opposites that work together. Either a pair of characters with opposing traits, the use of colours, the theme, whatever.

Ice and Fire!: Free: Turn Iceman and the Human Torch to the same click number of a different color. The Unbeatable Combo!: If Iceman and the Human Torch is adjacent to Ice Terrain, Smoke Cloud as FREE, but only to place two markers. Ice Slide! : Running Shot. When Iceman moves, generate an Ice blocking terrain marker adjacent to the he square started and finished his movement in. This game, that marker has "Adjacent characters must roll for break away if they don't already need to." Nova Blast!: Pulse Wave. Increase damage dealt +1 for each "4" in the attack roll. Flame Trail: After any action where Iceman and the Human Torch move, after resolutions deal 1 damage to each opposing character Iceman and the Human Torch moved through.
Chill out: Incapacitate
Dense as ice: Invulnerable
A frosty shell: Toughness
I can refreeze it! Regeneration
Ice makes things brittle: Enhancement
Ice Dupes: Shape Change
Put some ice on it! Support
Flame on! Running Shot
Don't stand too close: Pulse Wave
Heat Shimmer: Energy Shield/Deflection
Firewalls: Barrier
Toasty! Empower
Design Notes: Rarely have I been so inspired so quickly. This panel from the Days of Future Present story, told in X-Factor Annual 5, has always stuck with me. As Ahab, a mutant-hunting time traveler that may or may not be Cable has attacked both the FF and the X-Men, Iceman and the Torch meet up, shake hands, and steam. They ultimately combine to blow up Ahab's ship by super-heating and freezing it alternately. I've always loved this panel.
Edit-I am nothing if not reasonable.

Conflicted: Shape Change. Two-Face's Team Abilities can't be copied by friendly Wildcards unless permitted by this trait. // At the beginning of your turn, flip a coin, Two-Face uses the effects of the result until you flip again.
-Heads: Defend, Support, Leadership. Wildcards can copy the Batman Ally and Police Team Abilities from Two-Face.
-Tails: Willpower, Ranged Combat Expert, Close Combat Expert. Wildcards can copy the Batman Enemy and Underworld Team Abilities from Two-Face.
DESIGN NOTES: So with the Notorious set Two-Face revealed, WHY am I taking a crack at him with that one impending?
I have several critiques of it, one of the biggest is Probability Control. While yes, it can't work off his coin flips in game, it doesn't suit Two-Face as a character whose psychological issue in Batman comics, is feeling like he has no control over his own fate and relies on chance to decide what to do. And beyond that, the NOT Set Two-Face looks more like they decided to use the coin tosses more as a gimmick in his 50/50 trait, which I don't like either for not being terribly true to him. Oh well, maybe this dial would make a good alternative.

Targeting: Ignores Characters You Said the Secret Word!: At the beginning of the game, choose a standard power on the PAC. Whenever a character uses that power, Pee Wee Herman's player must shout "You Said the Secret Word!" or “Did you just say [insert chosen power here]?!” and both players must scream real loud. If anybody from outside the game screams real loud, Pee Wee Herman's team modifies their damage values by +1 until the end of their next turn. Jambi The Genie! : Probability Control, but only if you say "Mecca Lecca Hi, Mecca Hiney Ho" first. Connect the Dots, La La La La!: Friendly characters can draw line of fire to any character Pee Wee Herman can draw line of fire to. I Know You Are, But What Am I?: Super Senses. When an attack misses Pee Wee Herman, deal the attacking character one click of unavoidable damage.
Leap/Climb: Bouncing Around the Playhouse Perplex: I'm Just Trying to Illustrate That Its Okay to be Different... Enhancement: I'm Trying to Tell Kids to Have a Good Time... Empower: And Encourage Them to Be Creative and Question Things.

P.W. Herman! Paging Mister P.W. Herman!: If P.W. Herman is friendly to Aug01 Pee Wee Herman, he can use Sidestep. I'm a Loner, Dottie. A Rebel.: Modify P.W. Herman's attack value by +1 if no friendly characters are within 5 squares.
Charge: Ninjas! I'll Handle This! Force Blast: Get Those Ninjas Away From the Bike! Precision Strike: Take That! Super Senses: The Soviets Have Stolen The Prototype Bike! Combat Reflexes: Those Ninjas Will Have To Get Past Me First!
Like many my age, Pee Wee Herman was a childhood icon of mine. Pee Wee's Big Adventure was an aboslutel laugh riot, Pee Wee's Playhouse was a Saturday morning fixture we didn't dare miss, and we all had numerous Pee Wee toys and collectibles (you had the pull string talking Pee Wee too, right?). If you were a kid in the 80s, Pee Wee Herman was a part of your life.
So the news of Paul Reubens' passing yesterday hurt. It didn't take long to try and come up with ways to immortalize him in Heroclix.
I knew for the prompt, I needed both Pee Wee himself and his big league action movie doppelganger, P.W. Herman as portrayed expertly by James Brolin, giving a performance that is playing it completely straight in being one hundred percent Pee Wee's opposite. But the question was which Pee Wee I would dial. Would I try to recreate his arc in Pee Wee's Big Adventure? Or would I go into the Playhouse?
The Playhouse won out, if only because it afforded more opportunities for Heroclix players to behave in a silly manner while playing, which is absolutely key to Pee Wee Herman as a character. He's not without his tactical uses, of course. He's not a fighter, but he is one heck of a supporting player, bounding about the Playhouse with reckless abandon to Perplex, to give his friends a helping hand, to connect the dots on the battlefield to help them make their shots.
I knew I needed to bring The Secret Word and Jambi the Genie in, and make them both absolutely silly but also useful.
P.W. Herman is full on a fighter where Pee Wee is not. He's not very much one for helping his teammates out, as he's a loner, Dottie. A rebel. Maximize his stats by keeping him away from his friends. Having Pee Wee on the field alongside P.W. can increase his mobility, as Pee Wee can call him to the front desk to receive a phone call.
Rest well, Paul Reubens, and thank you for the memories. May you continue to avoid door-to-door salesmen and build your tin foil ball to ever greater magnitudes.

Targeting: Hindering, Destroy Blocking: Once per range attack, this character can draw a line of fire through one piece of Blocking terrain. Immediately after the attack resolves, destroy that piece of Blocking. DARK ALTERNATE: Once per game when Seraphimon would be damaged, you may choose that it instead takes no damage. After resolutions, generate a DanDevimon bystander token. RULER OF THE ANGELIC HOST: Leadership, but may target any friendly character in range that shares a keyword with Seraphimon. When Seraphimon rolls for Leadership and succeeds, you may choose to heal the targeted character 1 click instead of normal effects. TESTAMENT: STOP. Invincible, Super Senses. POWER: Roll a d6. Design Notes: If I can get away with it, I will always sneak a Digimon dial into one of these contests, haha.
Seraphimon in Digimon lore is the ruler of all angelic Digimon and one of the most powerful creatures in the entire net as a result. In Digimon Adventure:, we're shown that Seraphimon once fought in a great battle and was one of the only survivors. Driven mad with grief and anger, it separated into two halves, one the holy Angemon and the other the evil Devimon. Eventually Angemon would regain its strength and reabsorbed Devimon back into itself, once again achieving the ability to become MagnaAngemon and later Seraphimon. During the final battle of the series when certain death loomed for Seraphimon, Devimon made one final appearance by remanifesting itself as its strongest form, DanDevimon, to protect its good counterpart. With its sacrifice, it helped ensure victory for Seraphimon and its allies.
Seraphimon is one of my favorite Digimon, so I really wanted to come up with a powerful dial but had to be sure I represented that final scene as well since I felt it was such a good culmination of both character's arcs.
I read “a pair of characters with opposing traits” as requiring two dials, so at the very least it’s sanctioned. After all, can you really have opposing traits on a single dial?

You could, with some real clever hacking. I think of something like Devil Dino and Moon Girl as an example, with one being a rampaging Rex and the other a genius inventor. But personally, it's easier to make two dials.
