Hello all! I'm curious as to what you all view as the definitive (or just your favorite!) Clix takes on the popular Marvel and DC characters. I really enjoy reading through these types of threads as I browse units on this website, and it seems there hasn't been one in quite a while.
I'll kick us off with my favorite superhero, Batman.
I absolutely love how his utility belt plays. I have a lot of fun imagining what he's pulling out to use Leadership or some of the other more abstract abilities. He really feels like the world's greatest detective and strategist, to quote his special damage power. I fear he will soon need to fight for space with the BTU Batman in my personal collection, but no other dials capture the character the same.
Very excited to see what you all share. I hope you have a lovely day.
This was too strong for Batman, IMO. I mean, he could Running Shot, plus Pulse Wave or Penetrating/Psychic Blast, with 12-13 AV and 3-4 DMG, on top of Outwit, and not take pushing damage from doing it, two turns in a row.
This is the definitive Batman, in my book. Yes, he only has Outwit on click 5, but you can give him a full dial of Precision Strike, Exploit Weakness, Penetrating/Psychic Blast, etc.
This guy isn't abysmal even by today's standards. To my mind he functions the most like Batman should, since his power allows him to attack, escape, or reposition however he needs to. He doesn't have any powers that give him whatever he wants, he just uses his brain and theatrics to strike fear.
For the Batman fan, not Batgod. This captures the caped crusader as he was intended to be. A brilliant tactician, and world-class fighter. Hes got his utility belt and all its gadgets, but hes not unbeatable. If he were 70 points or less, he'd be my go to Batman.
I think that I have to change my choice and agree with this. You had to play him in a big point game for him to pull his weight—at least 600-800 points, IMO—but that is a stellar translation of the character in Clix form.

Definitive version of Batman??? That is nearly if not completely impossible to say. While I do like the JLTW version the OP thinks is the best. I agree that he has more powers than a regular Batman should have. OOTS Batman was fantastic when he came out.
Here is one that is retired that I really loved to use on many different teams. I also love the sculpt.
If I wanted to upgrade my Batman. The Batman vs. Superman armored Batman 012 was also another that I really loved to run. He's also retired.
This is one of the Batman that I really like that is still modern. To me it only has one omission and that is the Justice League keyword is missing. The Justice League is my favorite team in comics and clix.
Here is a modern age one that I enjoy and does work have the Justice League keyword.
The problem is so many of the same characters get made multiple times a year.
They find a way to include characters that have no connection to a particular story or event into a set just because they are a certain character.
It’s usually Batman or Ironman.
Another problem is made certain characters have shifting focus dials which if you don’t know allow them to switch out once per turn with another character with the same trait and get completely different abilities.
When I think of definitive i think of a dial that does everything that character could ever do.
It’s usually a more expensive dial like 200 points.
Play at home kit ghost rider from WOV is one.
Sr spider man from beyond amazing is another

I like OOTS for the same reasons. As well as his more modernized version:
I prefer this one myself. He does what you want Bats to do for a well-reconsidered point cost. Snap on the old utility belt and he's the dark knight...as formidable as any bat-fella out there...
Dream BIG, but keep the small dreams around just in case...
Now, for Batman's archenemy, there are a couple of good definitive options, but my very favorite is this guy:
He causes chaos by making his allies human bombs, he's hard to hit (and punishes you for doing so) he's hard to pin down, he has a 'last laugh' combo with Running Shot and Pulse Wave, and Outwit/Perplex to keep being a nuisance as his team continues to nail you for damage if you hit them.
The best part is he accomplishes all of this for just 50 points and with just one simple trait. Love that Joker!
I've definitely gained an appreciation for Out of the Shadows Batman from this thread. That is a super elegant design for Batman that does capture the character.

I think the 200 point dials are more what I was envisioning. The Avengers Forever Hulk is a great example (along with the figures you named).
Also, I just threw out Batman because I had a figure I knew I liked - people are welcome to discuss other characters too. I really like the BTU The Joker WelcomeToDIE posted. The trait is super fitting, and he just really tangles a figure up.

Reason: out of the shadows, not into them
I feel like any Batman that tops 100 points is too many points for Batman. So as much as I liked the Icons (E/LE), he comes in at 102 which made me look for this guy.

This guy doesn't look like much, but he was a brick wall that ripped people to bits. He's #1, in my book.
I would post a Spider-man dial in here, and the 200 point one is very close to definitive, but... The only thing is, there are a myriad of tricks Spider man can pull with his webs. (Pinning down, yanking them close, webbing weapons) I never felt we got a figure that can do the full extent of what he can pull off with them. Some have a few of those things, but usually just make him a beatstick with flurry. Perhaps the game isn't suited for that type of mechanic. They'd probably be best off making an equipment thing like the lantern rings.
I think Spidey deserves IMPROVED ignores characters a lot more than Batman. Sidestep or some other free movement is a must. The Wall crawler trait is pretty ideal for this IMO.

The 200 point one is my definitive version.
Before that one I liked the 2019 LE:
Before that I liked the 2015 LE, though it's more of a definitive post-Secret Wars Spidey, than an all-around Spidey.
