I have run a number of complicated Sentinel teams before but I want to try a very simple 300pt team.
Mark I Sentinel - 100
E Mandarin - 133
Range 10, Outwit, Mind Control, Incap
E Calypso - 39
Range 6 Mind Control, Probability Control
V SHIELD Medic - 16
Support, Shield TA
V Paramedic - 12
Support
The idea is simple, sit at range and MC control figures, once, maybe twice to have them be captured by the Big Bucket of Bolts. Nothing fancy. I have neveer used Mandarin before in a trournament, but he really has really rocked in the games I have played at home. He has all of the Ability that back up the Sentinel: Mind Control, Incap, and a solid range.
Personally, I would go with Moondragon over Mandarin. The difference in points will allow for some con artists, Ninjas, Snipers, or whatever you want to fill with.
I agree. Mandarin's range is nice, but almost no one has a 12 movement that would be required to come from the outside of Mandarin's range back to the Sentinel. (i.e. you could mind control someone 12" away, but it's unlikely you'll be able to walk them all the way back - and with the new rules, that person will be able to attack you next turn since MC won't give him an action)
I'm not really for Mind Control and Sentinel use anymore. I used to be a big fan, but with the new rules it can be harder to pull off. One option, if you are playing mixed games (or even if you are not) is to play 2 TKers - Mandroid and Johnny Alpha for example. You TK Alpha out who has a great attack to TK their big bruiser all 10" back to the Sentinel. The added bonus is that you won't take any clicks from MCing someone like Hulk - but then again, you have to get very close.
Maybe a middle ground - which I hadn't really thought about until now - is to play someone like Johnny Alpha in stealth 5-6 squares out infront of the Sentinel. Then, your 10" or 12" mind control character can mind control people back to the TKer who shoots them all the way back to the Sentinel. That would work better in higher point games.
