Minarchist, Objectivist, Capitalist, Libertarian...whatever.

When the size of a republic expands it "devolves" into a democracy. A democracy is not what the drafters intended but it is something they felt could form out of the republic. This was warned against and there have been far too many examples of why before the birth of our nation and since the birth of our nation, to not heed such warnings. Democracy is good when controlled; when that delicate balance of the will of the people's collective and respect for the individual are maintained impeccably.
When government slides into the people's personal interests it can slowly endanger its priority of respecting the individual by favoring whole demographics. The idea that the majority of people can dictate what is on Television, read, owned or even thought is scary to say the least. I'll assert that whether or not it's the conservatives or the liberals, we are stuck with one big babysitter who may slowly and perhaps unknowingly allow ourselves to surrender our very own rights as individuals…it’s happening right now and it has happened more and more over the last 100 years. Laws are implemented regularly that support a moral or religious agenda without respect to one's own personal beliefs or lack thereof. Drugs, abortion, stem cell research, prostitution, gambling, pornography and private ownership in general among many other things are criminalized, regulated, redefined or outright banned based on the will of the people alone. This is happening more and more and not to sound like an alarmist but as it's happening more and more it's happening at a faster pace. 9/11 brought up some serious nationalist sentiment and for many of the right reasons, but the liberals in this country were biting their lip when examining the possible reasons we were attacked (typically conservative foreign policies). Theories of global inequality are not some fake sociological equations that intentionally demonize the industrialized world. It's very real and from Bush to Clinton and Russia to France, we are all very guilty of these exploits within Capitalism. You might be reading me all wrong though because I'll defend Capitalism all out. I firmly believe it's the restraints we put on it that give whole countries international political capital. It's when we misuse money to starve people and then use military to control regions we've made impoverish that give capitalism a horrible label, though far removed from the evils of religion and nationalist governments.
All these points made to some flag waving and heart hurting redneck who wants to kill those pesky Arabs and he gets even more nationalist because "you're either with us or against us" my young commie idealist friend. Suddenly, and with conspiracy theories aside, the slightest little voting majority is electing a media hound who won't really get elected at all if he isn’t kicking butt for his cowboy fan base by expanding military and shutting down all dissenting voices with our tax dollars...oh and while were at it lets set up ineffective social policies and insure we get the votes of retards and inbreeds everywhere. All this while the real majority isn't even voting. That's scary nationalism folks and its damn near a totalitarian government in terms of civics, especially when you throw the aftermath of an even more robust and organized terrorist attack. Then we exist in a police state and the United States Constitution is simply not to be seen as anything other than a relic, because today's and tomorrow's thinkers are just so much brighter than Jefferson, Madison, Franklin and Hamilton. They are the other side of this American cultural coin. They are the "educated" who defend Karl Marx, Noam Chomsky and even Michael Moore. And they are not the answer. The liberals in America seemingly exist solely to make themselves feel smarter than the majority who elect our officials, so they can be so f*cking snug in their cute little counter culture. They defend their train of thought by conveniently ignoring historical parallels of their failed ideology time and time again in order to oppose the American status quo. If you want to do that just defend what had worked for a hundred years; Individual achievement, cultural competition, industry, free markets; in a word: Capitalism. An ideal based on freedom and merit, the fuel behind what has made America so great.
