While we are getting the umpteenth versions of the Avengers and the X-Men, there are still oh so many more or less popular teams of characters out there that are still waiting impatiently for their Heroclix debut. In this edition of Unclixed, it's the interdimensional bounty hunters, The Technet!
First appearing in Captain Britain #4, the Technet and a group of otherworldly bounty hunters that were hired to bring in an evil version of Captain Britain. Problem is, he fled to the Earth of the one we know and tried to take his place, claiming the real Captain Britain was the evil one, who then got taken into custody and... basically your typical evil double story. Remember that episode of Buffy where her and Faith switched bodies? Same thing, just with a British superhero and odd looking aliens.
The Technet would encounter Captain Britain again and yet again, particularly in the adventure where Excalibur was formed. They had been hired to bring in Rachel Summers because who hasn't had a bounty on them when they were part of the Phoenix Force.
After that, there would be a few instances where the Technet would team up with Excalibur, to the extent they even ended up invited guests to the wedding of Captain Britain and Meggan.
After the cancellation of Excalibur, the Technet would resurface one more time in the late 90's in the Fantastic Four (at the time written by Chris Claremont, natch) tasked with bringing in the ever-powerful Franklin Richards.
Why clix them? Excalibur and their rogues gallery are fairly underepresented. Which I know we could say for a lot of X-Villain groups, but Excalibur I think have none of their recurring enemies made.
Who's already been made that they can play with? Besides Gatecrasher, none of them. HOWEVER... At one point, the group tried to reform and Nightcrawler briefly became their leader, as they called themselves the N-Men. And a couple years ago, there was a divide between the Technet and Rocket Raccoon worked with half the team to pull off a heist.
What would some of their dials look like? I'm only doing part of the group, mainly since I think if Clix did make more of them, we'd be lucky to get half.
Bodybag - A giant reptile thing who basically sedated people and then swallowed them whole to hold them captive. So maybe Poison and some form of the old capture ability.
China Doll - A thin bluish serpent woman who could shrink people. Perhaps some form of Incapacitate that gives hit targets the Tiny symbol.
Ferro - A four-armed furry guy with swords. Pretty good candidate for Flurry and Blades/Claws/Fangs.
Joyboy - A big floating baby in a chair that used psionic powers to grant someone's greatest desire in a Twilight Zone/Ray Bradbury/Friday the 13th The Series crap magic sorta way. No idea how to pull that one off, so I'm just going Mind Control or Psychic Blast.
Thug - A green froggy-like bruiser with Super Strength. Probably basic Charge and Super Strength.
So what would your idea of dials for members of the Technet look like folks? Feel free to reply as that's it for this edition of Unclixed! Be here next week for a new edition of Comic Accurate! And in two weeks, we will be back with Unclixed, highlighting a group of DC villains!
Thank you for the article! I love Captain Britain and Excalibur! I have long wanted Technet to be made. From your lips to WK’s ears. Especially with “the new point formula “ a band of cheap specialists could be such fun. Alan Davis is also awesome and his work should always be appreciated.

Well, technically, you could say that Gatecrasher was an unofficial duo figure since Yap was her source of Phasing/Teleport. Thematically, I used to have fun making a makeshift Technet around Gatecrasher by using some random unconnected (and hard-to-theme) extraterrestrials like Shathra, Impossible Man, Thor Girl, Duhg, or Tiamat.
I think I speak for all longtime Excalibur fans when I say making Technet in Heroclix would be the best...! I too have fond memories of this off the wall and fun filled group and would love to be able to field this team one day.

In retrospect the series was the most imaginative of all the X titles. Warwolves and Technet (and Roma) need to be in my collection ASAP.
