The founding of Krakoa as a nation home to all Mutantkind has rocked the world. But it soon came time to remind it that Mutants are still there to defend them. An election is held and their protectors chosen. In this edition of Comic Accurate, it's The X-Men.
If there's one thing we can say about The X-Men, it's that change is a constant. So when Marvel's "Head of X" announced he was stepping back from the main title, and Marauders writer Gerry Duggan was taking over, along with that came a new roster for the team, including a member voted on by the readers... and apparently fans of "The Gifted". Needless to say, the new lineup is our build.
Why these figures - I think I just chose certain pieces that were both contemporary in the character they were representing, while simultaneously not too cheap and fragile. At least for all the members that weren't Synch, where I only had the single option. Outside of him, you're going to have options. I believe the upcoming Empyre set even has a few new versions of members here. In fact, if you really want to shave off some points for a 400 point build, you could always use this alternate build:
I've always wanted to play a force with the prime Sunfire, the 600-point build demonstrates why I never have: The rosters that would feature him are always too big and take too many points for our weekly events.
As I'm a long time player, the 120-point dial looks excellent... if only it had come earlier in the life of the game. In 2016, even with top-dial Running Shot/Pulse Wave, backed up with Sidestep/Poison, it felt (to me) like too many points compared to what else I could get from more common figures from the same set. Even with this figure available as a (5-point) 'call-in', I never brought it to an event.
oh, so what happens in the comic? When you say " came time to remind it that Mutants are still there," is "it" referring to the world?
It's only 4 issues in, but there are two primary arcs:
-An interstellar crime lord is allowing rich beings from other worlds the chance to try and wipe out the sentient population of Earth. The team got some intel on this from the High Evolutionary and it seems like half the team is soon to be off to space.
-Ben Urich is looking into how how mutants whose dead bodies he's seen with his own two eyes are alive now, presumably leading to the exposure of the Resurrection Protocols. Orchis is anonymously encouraging Urich and providing him with additional information on dead Mutants who are alive again.

And Jean beat Nightmare like he owed her money.
Yeah, it's a good read so far and that scene with Nightmare & Jean reminded me of Nightmare's biggest screw up where he captured Captain America along with ten million U.S citizens. So Cap was like "I'm The Spirit of America and you brought me to a place where dreams become reality so I'm now The American Dream made manifest". That was a truly boss level beat down of Nightmare in his own realm by a god tier Captain America.

Yeah, Nightmare doesn't always think things through as well as he should when dealing with superheroes.
