Then we get this announcement. So, these LEs are going to be prizes at GenCon (August 4-7); that seems a pretty good sign that they aren't going to be publicly available before then. Since, after all, giving away prizes that people may already have seems... not all that cool. That pretty much rules them out for me.
Could you help me find where it says that the Horsemen are the prizes for Gencon? I've seen that they'll be available there, but where does it actually say that the Horsemen are prizes? Just wondering.
The pieces will become available after the convention season is over.
1. When will that be? For Heroclix that would be after GenCon when a new world champ will be crowned and the Heroclix yearly cycle begins anew.
2. What makes tchipley believe that? Because doing it after GenCon the figures will still be a hot commodity and of interest to folks. Also it doesn't take away from the convention attendees value for attending as it relates to Heroclix. If they wait until the end of the calendar year we will be too many sets deep and have our eyes on other prizes that will be obtainable outside of conventions.
What reason should anyone believe tchipley? Because in relation to how wizkids conducts itself at conventions I have a really accurate track record of forecasting how it will go down.
I predicted (actually suggested) after Galactus Gate, that a raffle system be adopted to allow a more fair distribution of the limited edition figures. Also that some tournaments be held so that players who didn't win one in the raffle could have a chance to battle for one.
I predicted that Johnny Thunder would be made available in ways other than the Con once the con season was concluded.
I don't go half cocked making these predictions nor do I make them very often, so please try not to turn WK's announcement into something to aggravate other members of the forums.
Preach on as what you state has happened in the past.
I really hate the negative attitude of folks on this forum that always assume the worst case scenario. It must suck living your life if you always expect the worst thing to happen.

Interesting opinion. We must have been not cool last year because we gave out lanterns and chases that had been available for months. By your logic no on would want that so our area should have been deserted. Oh wait, it wasn't.
I'm glad you could admit that it's sour grapes that's making you assume that end of the year means that it will be announced on December 31st because you have no basis for that. If you are wrong and it's announced before then, will you come back here and apoligize for being wrong. I did last year when we gave out the wrong prizes for a tourney and I made sure that people got what they were supposed to after the fact. I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong.

Are you guys REALLY trying to use logic and facts when attempting to discuss something with this guy? Have you been READING the posts he's submitted to this thread? Suckers...LOL!

I would have thought Elf could have helped you out, but it does seem his adventures in auto-asphyxiation have left him with a bit of a... tick .
"Origins is the first convention that this figure will be available at as a prize but don’t worry this figure will also be available at GenCon. For those not attending the conventions, another way to get this figure will be announced by the end of the year."

Damn, just lanterns objects that is kinda.... oooooh.

Hey, if the announcement comes out and we can start getting these things in the general populace by mid-June, I'll be happy as a clam. Or another, similarly jovial bivalve. And I will definitely swing by here to apologize; think a lot of the loyal opposition will apologize if these are coming out in, say, August-September or later?
But seriously here, did I miss some secret handshake in the announcements we have? (Also, FYI, the sour grapes refers to being irritated with Mr. Oboy, not the assessment of the dates.) Maybe I've done too much government work, but when I see something say "will be announced by the end of the year", I tend to think less of May, and more of December.
I honestly don't know, does Wizkids have some reputation for doing things way early?

"By the end of the year" means anytime between now and the end of the year. I'm not really sure why this is difficult. If I order something online and they tell me it will ship by the end of next week, it could get here at the end of next week, or it could get here next Monday. Saying "by" a certain date merely means that the date in question is the outside date at which it is expected to occur, not the only date at which it is possible.

Exactly right Vlad.
Falkenburg you have claimed that the announcement will come out in December. If it comes out in any month other than that, then your statement is wrong. Hence, why I posted what I posted. I'm betting that it will be before December and I do not have any knowledge of when this will be announced but I trust the person who told me this.

Thanks, I didn't even think of those articles since you specifically related the remark to another link that didn't say anything about them as prizes. Forgot that, hahaha.

Well, everyone needs a hobby...
While I appreciate all the personal attention, I'm not sure all the individual attacks make you look as superior as they seem to make you feel.

I've been trying for days to get clarification in the GenCon events thread (http://www.hcrealms.com/forum/showthread.php?t=314842) as to what it actually means that these are prizes. Are they participation prizes, are they prizes for first and fellowship, are they "prizes" for buying a certain amount of product at the booth? I expect we'll know more after we get reports from Origins.

Why would the opposition apologize if the figures were released well in advance of the anticipated "deadline" for just the ANNOUNCEMENT of how they'll be more generally available? If the figures were made AVAILABLE in August-September, it would seem your side would be on the hook for apologies, as that's WELL in advance of reasonable expectations. Even if just the announcement was made in August-September, that's still well in advance of the self-imposed deadline of the end of the year, and the WK detractors will be the ones eating crow, if anyone is.
But again, I'm trying to argue logic with you, which seems like a waste of time...back to the auto-asphixiation!

I posted on another thread with this but I will be posting more about what prizes will be available at both GenCon and Origins and how you can go about getting them in a week or so. So you won't have to wait all the way to Origins.
I am also not planning on obtaining this figure, I for one, am not too familiar with the four horsemen of Apocalyspe Marvel Mythos.
I'm not saying I don't want one, I'm just not up to playing the collector game with NECA anymore. They keep making it harder to do and I'm not willing to put that much effort in to it anymore.

Well, a fella can't argue with that.
That said, I really am quite puzzled by all this: in this thread, on the first page alone there are 3 people who state they don't have a reasonable chance of getting the figure. At this point I've flat out said that if the figures aren't available (that is, the figures are going out, not the announcement has been made) by mid-June, early July at the outside, I won't have a realistic chance of getting one. So let's go at this a different way...
What would you consider "support" for the claim that there exist persons who don't have a reasonable chance of getting these figs?

You know what? You've convinced me. The more people have expressed faith, the less it jibed with how things work in my circles. And right now I realize that this because my circles are full of... well, not so nice folk.
So, I withdraw my prediction that the announcement/redemption will be at the end of the year, and to any Wizkids/Neca employees that I have offended with my suppositions, I offer my apologies.

Okay, I'll bite.
I don't see those three posts you are talking about. The only potentials I can see are:
Post #5 - doesn't say he won't have a chance to get one (in fact he quotes the part of the WK annoucement which states that they'll be available outside of conventions). So that can't be it.
Post #6 - Calls them a "con exclusive" (when the evidence belies this, cons will just be the FIRST way to get them), but doesn't say that he can't get them, even if they are. So this can't be it.
Post #10 - Consigned to the "fact" that he'll need to mod his own, but doesn't say why. That's not evidence that he can't get them.
Post #15 - Assumes that the pieces will only be available to people who attend the cons, when the WK announcement says the opposite - that it'll be made available to people outside of conventions. This can't be it...well, technically he does SAY this, but it's based on an apparent misreading of the announcement. He even states two preferred alternate distribution methods, either of which COULD actually be what WK will be announcing by the end of the year.
So I don't see the posts you refer to. And if people did say that, and if it's due to a misreading of the announcement or similar reason, that's hardly evidence that their position is fact. I could easily say that I have no reasonable chance to get this piece. Heck, I could say I own a dragon. That doesn't make it reality. I mean, I actually do own a dragon, but don't you want to see evidence of it before you REALLY believe it exists?

I don't understand how that can possibly be true, unless you are going to die before they are made available to the non-Con-attending public, as announced. And if that's true (and I sincerely hope it isn't), these pieces are no different than, well, any other pieces WK will be producing after that date, so I don't get the angst. You have made intimations that there is a reason for your short window, but aren't willing to share why. I respect your privacy, but you need to respect that that kind of implication isn't "evidence", in any sense of the word.
I think maybe you and I have a different definition of "no realistic chance of getting one". I think if they're available through mail order or stores, you'll have a reasonable chance of getting one, even if you aren't able to participate at that time. For all we know the market will be flooded with them after the con season, as was done with previous pieces that actually WERE supposed to be con exclusive. It was downright EASY to get those, even months (heck, YEARS) after they were initially offered to stores.

How about an official announcement that WK WON'T be making these pieces available outside of conventions? For all we know, they're going to sell these pieces to comic and game stores after con season is over. If you're unable to get them under those conditions, then there are a lot of other figures for this game that you can't get, so these aren't a special case. Or they could be mailaways. Or they could be part of a prize kit that stores can buy. We don't know how they'll be distributed, but we do know that the distribution WON'T be limited to conventions.
