On gold, I'm not spending any.
The initial plan was to save it in the event that I need to get characters for chapters/SpecOP requirements, as I did in MAA...........but I got to that party a bit late and had to play catch-up....that's not the case this time around, thankfully. Add to that I seem to be on the right side of the CP roulette results (for now...dun, dun, DUN) I don't have anything to spend it on that I can't just earn by having fun.
I figure that when my characters get fully leveled I might looking adding a 'GOLD only' power if I think they are very appealing.............but I imagine that there will be some sort of equivalent of LE items (as there is in MAA) that I'll be interested at some point (maybe buying a SHIELD power armor/Mandroid at some point).
If I were just starting out I would keep the gold and get a small pool of CP (constantly growing) ready for the first SpecOP and keep growing the team......and only use it if you need to. There will eventually be something that you can only get with gold that will be a 'want'.

Yup, Widow is doing nicely so far.......so is Cap.....the only one I'm not digging so far is She-Hulk.....but when I was using her she kept getting matches with no scrappers and it was slow going.....maybe when I get her Lv9 it will all come together. She wasn't bad or anything, just nothing special showed as of yet.

It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?
I like She-Hulk, actually. When she hits, she hits hard. I just wish she had Motion Granite for a ranged attack. Is that the Level 9 power?
Had no idea so I went to see if the Wiki has that info yet.....and it does. Apparently she gets 'drop kick' for free at Lv9.
Now that I'm looking at her powers....I do really wish she had access to 'Motion Granite' or 'Sprint Strike' as one of her standards but....eh, once I have the SHIELD points under control I can get non-standard powers.

Total progress today: I picked up Ms. Marvel, still have 15 CP banked up, Iron Man is training to 5 with Panther and Cyclops on deck, and I'm halfway through Assignment 5. Not bad. I also did my first PvP raids...I feel super guilty, but I made a ton of silver, R-ISO, and stat chips for my heroes so it was profitable.

That, sir, is the best 16 CPs you will ever spend!
Carol is awesome in this game.

And Chapter 2 is here......off to do my first run.
Edit: Hun, the Kree are more......um.......resilient that I would have though.
Edit #2: Ok, yeah something is wrong there, Ronin, Karima, the Kree Sentry are not half the challenge these Kree grunts are......I'm sure that will get tweaked soon.

This game had me really excited at the beginning, but it's quickly losing my interest. I didn't play MAA at launch (started right before Spec. Op. 3), but I felt like I was progressing pretty quickly right out of the gates. Missions breezed by, and I had things like Chapter Mastery to focus on for guaranteed new gear and a large burst of CPs. As a result, I felt like I could consistently get a new character every few days for the first stretch there. Additionally, while I was sometimes starved for silver and shield points early on that problem was quickly remedied, allowing me to do the basic things in the game like train my heroes, research new tech, and keep gems in my team's costumes with relative ease.
None of that is true here. I only have five heroes after two weeks of play time, and three of them were freebies. The other two were in the basic, 16-point tier. I'm struggling to afford level 5 training between the high cost, stingy drop rate, and constant enemy raids, which makes me shudder to think of how challenging it will be to afford level 6 and 7 training once me heroes get that far. I've exhausted the meager reservoir of secondary tasks, leaving me with nothing but slow, grindy encounters to hammer away at in the dismal hopes I'll net 2-3 CPs here and there.
This game has a ton of potential: it's prettier than MAA and could be tactically deeper with the addition of range, LoF, and positioning, plus the customization options for characters. But as it stands it's just too punishing to play. I'm going to try to get to the MODOK fight (I think I'm halfway through Assignment 6 now) but I'm not hopeful that I'll be sticking with it.
Arg... Had no idea it was that rough on you. That does sound discouraging.
So I'm finally at the epic fight for chapter 2....... And wow, it was a rough trip to get here. Things I learned from it;
1) I had no idea taskmasters photo reflexes stacked. Case in point while stayng out of fire demons range and just getting my little arrow shots in I had stacked up about 6 of them so when I trapped myself and one got close enough to attack Tasky attacked him 7 times......which turned that fight from near impossible to very winnable in a heart beat.
2) Speaking of difficult assguardianish things.......mostly fire demon and the wrecking crew....I think the hulk just went to the top of my recruiting priorities.......sorry karma! You will just have to wait a bit more
3) Ronan you seem cool, but I can't keep you alive in chapter 2......we'll work on that.
4) so happy I've been levelling up wolverine and iron fist......that Loki fight (all Inf lokies) is going to be much easier next time.

Question: Does this game have a "team-up" option allowing you to send a character with tons of dialogue for a boss fight into battle even if you don't have them recruited? I'd guessed it doesn't, but it sounded from your post like you got to use Ronan pretty quickly.

Not yet at least.
I just picked up Ronin (right after I unlocked him) as I wanted to see how he was and he was a Bruiser that wasn't 90 CPs and I thought that sounded like something my line-up needed.
I had been looking forward to Karima right away but........yeah, going to need some strong bruisers if I have any plans of not getting Wrecked by the Crew next time.
Edit: ok finished off Sutur.......found out you have to hide behind the rocks before he does his big attack (after he is 'heating up') was much easier after that. From what I've been hearing Lady Sif will be a big help......which seems odd that you'd want to bring a scrapper to a fight against a bruiser
