Angel of Music: At the beginning of the game choose a friendly character with the Celebrity keyword. This game that character can use Mastermind and opposing characters that share a keyword with that character modify combat values -1 as long as that character is on the map. Smoke and Mirrors: Shape Change, Smoke Cloud. When Phantom of the Opera uses Smoke Cloud markers placed do not need to be adjacent to other placed markers. FREE: Place Phantom of the Opera in a square with a Smoke marker placed by him. The Music of the Night: Willpower. When Phantom of the Opera occupies hindering terrain Blades/Claws/Fangs, Targeting: Hindering. All I Ask of You…Reprisal: Flurry, Mind Control. Sabotaged Chandelier: Telekinesis. Targeting: Elevated. When Phantom of the Opera makes a Range Terrain Attack characters adjacent to the target are also targeted and hit characters are each dealt of the terrain marker. The Point of No Return: STOP. Combat Reflexes. Phantom of the Opera cannot be healed.
PLAYBILL
So technically the 1925 Universal movie with Lon Chaney, Sr. is based on the novel and is still the closest thing to it but the second Universal adaptation was the first horror film with a complete musical scene (although I think it felt removed from all context) that paved the way for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1987 Tony Award winning musical (Broadway MusiClix: Hesster you’re welcome).
Starring his then wife Sarah Brightman, she is still the wealthiest soprano in the world (thanks in no small part to taking him to the cleaners) world renown for her aria in the title track. 35 year old spoiler, the climax of the first act actually involves dropping a literal chandelier on the audience. Had to include it bc a jump scare in a staged production was the stroke of genius that sets this at the top of Webber’s illustrious career as the most successful man in theatre. Besides it and Smoke and Mirrors every power is named after a song the character features in.
Angel of Music let’s you pick your own Christine and showcases him placing them above all else at the expense of their associates.
The opening words to Music of the Night are ‘nighttime sharpens, heightens each sensation.’ Such a calming soundtrack for a killer. Usually regarded as best song of the show.
The Point of No Return is when Christine and Phantom become irreconcilable due to the mass murder thing. This is their opening scene of Act 2 so it corresponds with the red line (intermission)
All I Ask of You is actually the love theme of Christine and Raoul (Phantom’s competition) but he sings it to her as a reprise and as a final gesture before the curtain falls.
I’ve had the pleasure of conducting the orchestra and playing the organ for various productions of this show and this anti-hero holds a special place in my heart because playing a keyboard effortlessly with one’s feet with each hand on two others whilst singing and simultaneously seducing a woman is worthy of the standing O. <rose drop>

Along the way the Doctor ends up in a haunted house inhabited by none other than Count Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster and the Grey Lady(which seems to just be a ghost/ghoul type thing), and sick them on the Daleks as they make their escape. Turns out they were advanced animatronics from the distant future of 1996.
As for the Beatles... well the Doctor and co pop over to watch a Beatles performance and if that isn't an excuse to dial the Beatles I don't know what is. Fun fact, the clip of the Beatles used in this episode doesn't exist anywhere else anymore so if you ever want to see 20 seconds of the Beatles performing 'Ticket to Ride' on Top of the Pops, the Chase is your only option.

'Ticket To Ride': Pulse Wave, but instead of dealing damage move hit characters 2 squares
Travelling In Disguise: At the beginning of the game, put a Disguise token on Abe Sapien's card. // As long as there is a Disguise token on this card, Abe Sapien has "Stealth, Shape Change. If Abe Sapien makes an attack, remove a Disguise token from this card.". // FREE: Remove a Disguise token from this card, if you do, halve speed, Move. Visions Of Who He Was: Once per game, when Abe Sapien would be KO'd by an opponent's attack, instead turn his dial to click #6 and he has IMMUNE until your next turn. Unique Biology: Toughness, Combat Reflexes, and Close Combat Expert
Abe may share a few traits with my favorite Universal monster, the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Also, for anyone who doesn't remember this classic disguise from his first appearance,
SHE WALKED IN LOOKING LIKE A SIMILE. SHE WAS A REAL METAPHOR: Outwit. When Hardboiled PI targets a character with Outwit, place a Suspect token on that character's card. // FREE: Remove a Suspect token from an Opposing character and choose a standard power on their card. That character cannot use the chosen power until the start of your next turn. TWO-FISTED SLEUTH: Stealth. // When Hardboiled PI ends his movement adjacent to an opposing character with a Suspect token, you may remove any number of Suspect tokens from that character's card, then make that many close attacks. IN OVER MY HEAD, BUT WHEN HAS THAT STOPPED ME BEFORE: Combat Reflexes. Willpower, but increase the result +1 for each adjacent character with a Suspect token on their card. NO ONE EVER PAYS ATTENTION TO A BEGGAR: Perplex, Shape Change. POWER: Place a Suspect token on an opposing character within line of fire. If no opposing character can draw line of fire to Hardboiled PI, you may instead choose two characters.
TRYING TO KEEP A LOW PROFILE (Stealth) I'VE GOTTEN OUT OF FAR WORSE SPOTS THAN THIS (Steal Energy)
Significant Appearance: Every dime store noir novel ever.
Design Notes: This really isn't based off of any one thing in particular and is more inspired by the whole pulp noir detective genre in general. I just liked the idea of building a detective dial based around black and white powers. It was a tough one for me to hammer out (hence the last minute entry, haha), but I'm pleased with what I ended up with!

Gorgon Stare: FREE: Incapacitate. // FREE: Make an attack on an opposing character that has 2 action tokens on it, dealing penetrating damage.
DESIGN NOTES: Daaaang it, I just did a Medusa in my October Project thread, but she is a notorious boss in the Castlevania series, and Incap fits her pretty well, so I went ahead and made a tweaked version with the Castlevania Keyword.
Fun Fact: Medusa's appearance in some of the Castlevania games is based off her appearance in Clash of the Titans from 1981, and that's part of why I used that model for her reference pic instead of a Castlevania one. She also in some of the games does actually use a bow and arrows like in same movie.
No-Name’s Invisible Donatello - a slick, slick rhythm-based character that’s easy to grok and looks fun as hell. The flavor text quoting the original movie is appreciated as well!
LostGaladorian’s Marv - Frank Miller’s best character? Quite possibly. The best dial we’ll ever see of him? Almost certainly. This rules and makes me want to read the comics again. Excellent work.
ComicJunkie’s Phantom of the Opera - come for the awesome, musical-accurate dial with all its strategic complexity; stay for the breakdown of that musical and your connection to it. Incredible stuff. Jesus Christ Superstar may be my favorite ALW musical, but “Phantom of the Opera” is easily my favorite ALW song. Brilliant job here!
Honorable Mentions - Rurouni KJS’s Black Panther, Hesster56’s Blade, mmiller42’s Abe Sapien, Superherojhn’s Hardboiled PI
Merry Men of Sherwood Forest: Stealth. Once per turn for all characters with this trait you may use Probability Control to target an adjacent character’s attack or break away roll. Why Else Would I Be Merry?<hiccup>: Incapacitate, Toughness, Willpower. Friar Tuck may target friendly characters with Incapacitate. When he does, modify a hit character’s Attack and Damage +2 and its Range, Speed and Defense -2 until your next turn. // When an adjacent character with 2 action tokens would clear they only clear one action token instead. A Better Use For The Tithe: When an opposing character KO’s a character with a point value lower than its own point value reduce the points scored for the KO’d character by ten percent of its point value rounded down. Stealeth From The Rich, Giveth To The Poor: When Friar Tuck hits an opposing equipped character of a higher point value with a close attack you may unequip its equipment and equip it to a friendly character with a lower point value.

A Designer’s Tale:
Had to do a famous drunk considering the theme. First written reference of Robin Hood was in Chaucer era hence the flavor text but the actual Robin Hood is most likely to have lived during The Anarchy nearly a century before Prince John and the 3rd Crusade. It became a common monicker for many alleged criminals for centuries afterwards. Friar Tuck was a later addition coming from the 14th century May Day festivals most likely as a symbol of the church’s tolerance of the celebration of a renowned criminal and whose presence legitimized his cause. In his first appearance he carries Robin Hood across a stream and considering his company the Underworld TA feels well placed. I imagine him as a tipsy Welsh Battle Cleric spreading the gospel and the goblet in equal measure.
Well. Three of you. Votes for three of you. Those are the rules.
Third Place! Phantom of the Opera by ComicJunkie. This would get a vote for the chandelier alone. I remember seeing this show at Her Majesty's Theatre in the summer of 2001 on my first ever trip abroad. It was a crazy cool experience, and the chandelier in particular was such a jolt. I didn't see it coming. Later, when our tour took us to Paris and we got to the opera house, I made sure to take a photo outside of the Phantom's booth. The dial itself is so much fun that I'd love to play it sometime.
Second Place! Eye-gor by Dragonfly2099. I think there are few movies ever made that are quite as funny as Young Frankenstein, and you've captured the spirit of possibly the funniest character in the movie quite well. I really REALLY like the shared Sidestep. Boy, that'll come in handy.
First Place! The Count by DestructoBoy. As a gladly-admitting-to-it Muppet fanatic, I couldn't NOT give The Count the top spot in my ranking. I just couldn't. Sure, this take is more violent than he ever has demonstrated himself to be, but it has so much flavor and fun nods to one of the all-time greatest Muppets (yes, Sesame Street puppets are Muppets). I've long deliberated on trying to put The Count to Clix, but could never wrap my head around it. This works. This works damn well.
HM! Herman Munster by Limelight451. Just baaaaaarely edged out by the fact that he doesn't have The Munsters as a named keyword. It's a great dial, and I love how wholesome and supportive he is. It's Herman to a tee. Accidentally destructive, intentionally supportive.
ASK ME ONCE I’LL ANSWER TWICE JUST WHAT I KNOW I’LL TELL BECAUSE I WANNA!
SOUND DEVICE AND LOTS OF ICE I'LL SPELL MY NAME OUT LOUD BECAUSE I WANNA!
Movement: Ignores, Destroys Indoor Blocking Terrain Not Really a Fan of All This Fire, Guys.: Stealth. Modify damage taken by +1 when hit by Energy Explosion. After Raphael is hit by Energy Explosion, he may immediately be placed four squares away. Beware His Shocking Sai!: Exploit Weakness. FREE: Incapacitate, range 2 (Battle Fury does not affect this use of Incapacitate) He's Been Shell-Shocked!: Impervious, Poison.
Sidestep: Yeah, Yeah, It's Alive. I Know. Charge: Time to Stomp Some Foot! Quake: Were You Expecting Me to Be All "RRRGGHHH!"? Impervious: All These Pitchforks Are Making Me Angry... Invulnerability: Torches Too? Oh, Come ON! Battle Fury: Cool, But Rude
Yeah, I wasn't gonna STOP doing Universal Monster Turtles, guys. This line interpreted Raphael as Frankenstein's Monster, so the merge goal is simple here - the brute lumbering strength of Frankenstein's Monster, and the rage and precision of Raphael. I feel like I'm addressing both ends of the prompt, as the original novel was European, the setting is European, and then his "Shocking Sais" work as a focus on Incapacitate, allowing him to send out little sparks to stun nearby enemies.
He's still a ninja, despite also being a gigantic cobbled together dead thing. But he's got ol' Frankie's fear of fire, or maybe a bit more rage at fire depending on how you play him. I had a lot of fun with the flavor texting here, focusing on Raphael's sarcastic snark. I tried to write these lines in such a way that you can imagine Rob Paulsen or Sean Astin flippantly delivering them.
So here's Raphael! He's big, he's dangerous, he's hard to hurt, and he's overflowing with electricity, making him a pain to deal with on multiple levels!

PARRY: Combat Reflexes. When a close attack misses Musketeer, after resolutions, deal the attacker 1 penetrating damage.
FRANCE'S GREATEST SWORDSMAN: Blades/Claws/Fangs, Precision Strike. Other characters using Blades/Claws/Fangs deal no damage to Musketeer.
NOBLESSE OBLIGE: Empower. When Musketeer is given a MOVE, if he ends movement adjacent to a friendly character on a higher click number, then it is a FREE instead.
1. Marv, LostGaladorian. I really like this for some reason. Frank Miller is...well, he is what the label says on the tin, as we say. Marv is his classic take on the unstoppable enforcer, and this covers it perfectly.
2. Donatello, No-Name. Always been my favorite turtle, and this version combines a nice monster theme along with some great genius/shell-kicker combos.
3. Herman Munster, Limelight. I kind of wish his Leadership power was specific to monsters, otherwise he's perfect.
HM. Eye-Gor, Dragonfly2099. Just needs a Frau-Blucher bystander (horse whinnies).
HM. The Count, Destructoboy. One more HM! Ah ah ah.

Silver Sable is one of my favorite Spider-Man supporting characters. Royalty from the small European nation of Symkaria, which shares a border with Latveria, she turned to mercenary work to keep her small, impoverished, and embattled country funded and its liberty secure.
I love her because of her "fine, I'll do it myself" quality, that makes her put herself on the line, rather than her people. On top of being a soldier, martial artist, and tactician, she's also an accomplished diplomat, regularly mollifying the likes of Doctor Doom.
She had her own ongoing series in the 90s, but in recent years has been overshadowed by the Black Widow. I'm phenomenally bummed to hear that Sony's SILVER AND BLACK, a movie that would've paired Silver with Black Cat, is basically defunct. It's a shame because it sounded really cool.
EDIT: I want to add that I chose Silver Sable because I don’t know if any of the official dials have ever captured everything about her— her Jetpack, her team leadership, her phenomenal marksmanship and martial artist versatility. This is a woman with a contingency for everything. She’s a master tactician who has fought Black Widow and the Punisher to a standstill. At the same time, she isn’t a bells and whistles type of character; her approach is pragmatic and decisive. Hopefully this dial captures all that she is without going beyond the scope and scale of her abilities.
True fact - Silver Sable was the ONE thing I disliked about Spectacular Spider-Man. Turning her into Silvermane's daughter and the heir apparent to his criminal empire felt... wrong.

THEY HAVE TO BELIEVE I COULD BE ANYWHERE: Willpower. 5-6: Smoke Cloud as FREE until the start of your next turn, but only to place 3 terrain markers. TO FIGHT THE COWARDLY AND SUPERSTITIOUS: Incapacitate. FREE: Make a close attack targeting a single adjacent opposing character with two action tokens.
Design Notes: Yeah yeah, I know Batman's been overdone in clix, but cmon Incapacitate is his sort of thing. Just wanted to make a straightforward Beat 'em up Bruce for my Halloween rewatch of The Batman.
