All Avengers or mostly Avengers? Cards? Fun or competitive team?
well, I guess I wouldnt mind a few appropriat wildcards, or just marvel heros that would fit. cards are fine I was just a little hesitant about them cause with tony that only leaves me 150 more pts. and I guess I'd like it to be more fun that competitive.
First, in a game of 300 points, I wouldn't use Brilliant Tactician on Tony--tempting as it may be.
I would try to fit as many cheap Avengers as you can to build a team around Tony--characters in the 25-55 point range.
Also, to save as many points as you can in order to add additional characters, I would use Alpha Flight instead of T-Bolts.
Here is one idea for a team:
LE Tony Stark + Alpha Flight = 150
R. Black Knight + Alpha Flight = 54
R. Tigra + Alpha Flight = 40
V. Mockingbird + Vault + Alpha Flight = 37
E. Wasp (Universe Starter) + Alpha Flight = 19
Total = 300
You could also lose Wasp because #1, she is about to be retired; #2, you could add some Feats to the other members to increase their effectiveness; and #3, you don't really need another Flier anyway.
Good luck...

I would play this team except drop E Starter Wasp and upgrade Black Knight to E version. For 10 pts, you get a starting 10AV as well as 10 movement. And and extra click of life. So Tony can Perplex his AV to 11 and he can Black Knight can storm off and try to do his full Transporter move at a 9 AV, bringing along Tigra as a secondary/ Stealthed blocker.
Tigra doesn't really benefit from upgrading her to her other levels (IMO).
And even though Vault is a cool card and will allow you some tactical moves, I think I would drop it to play Shellhead on Tony, as with only 4 pieces you will be pushing someone. And Tony doesn't have SS so he can't sit there and pick up the desk for the +2. I think Shellhead would help.

Some interesting notions, for sure; however, I must make a few points:
First, while Shellhead may be a solid card to equip Mr. Stark with, of all the characters that I would be Pushing with this team, he would be my last choice.
Second, E. Black Knight is indeed superior to his Rookie counterpart, and I think that that is a worthwhile upgrade.
Third, Wasp was included only to provide another character to the mix to have a decent 5 characters in a 300 point game; but as I pointed out myself, she is most definitely expendable.
Fourth, I think that every version of Tigra brings a lot to the table--especially the Veteran.
17 Defense with Super Senses is awesome; as is an 11 Attack (with Alpha Flight) with Blades.
Anyway, this is a good discussion, and hopefully it results in a good Tony Stark/Avengers team...

Don't get me wrong, I like Tigra, but her starting click is harder to play around unless you get to position her correctly so she can attack with her starting click of AV (which is the highest in all her versions I believe).
When playing Tigra, you have to ready to accept that you are going to force pot-shots at her because people will be afraid of the high AV and BCF on the starting click. Most people will try and attack you to get you off the click. So IMO, its not worth it to upgrade her to her other versions. She is bait that is also a capable attacker.
As far as Shellhead, I wouldn't want to push Tony either, but I realize that Black Knight doesn't have the greatest DV and his Defensive powers are weaker. I think that I woud play this with Tony in the background using her Perplex to help the other pieces while I RS and carry Mockingbird. Hopefully, my RS has caused some damage and Mockingbird will be in base contact to stop retaliation and bat clean-up.
I like Shellhead on him, because Tony will most likely bat clean-up and will need to push towards the end. Also, if the situation exists where you may need to run Tony to save points, you can run him consistantly with the extra protection that might help him survive.
But this may not be needed as Black Knight, Mockingbird and Tigra have nice dial lenght for their pts.

LE Tony Stark - 150
R Hellcat - 27
+ Pounce - 15
V Quicksilver - 62
E Tigra - 46
Alpha Flight - 0
------------------------
Total - 300
Tony can Perplex up Quicksilver's damage to make him a very threatening speedster while Tigra runs interference. Alpha Flight + Pounce + Hellcat gives you a 10 Att and 7 movement for 3 damage and makes for a nasty little surprise. Let the lower cost figures soften up the opposition and Tony can destroy the survivors.
um, ok first I dont yet have a V Moking bird but I will be buting a brick so I'll probably get one.
and she will definetly make the team when shes legal.I'm always a sucker for a grounded speedster so Quicksilver would also be pretty sweet just not sur if I can fit him.I was also thinking of E falcon, anyone have any thoughts on him? otherwise though I still think I'll stay away from the cardboard cept for alpha flight.
one last question though. is four characters still too short for a 300 pt game nowadays or do you think with all the feats and whatnot that the right four characters can still be competitive.cause I think I would have a lot easier time making a team if I was'nt so set on making it five figures.
First, E. Falcon is a solid fig, but fragile--especially once he is in base contact with an opposing character and his ES/D no longer helps his Defense.
He is not a front-line character, as his 6 click dial and 15 Defense--17 with ES/D--don't allow for that.
In regards to your question about 4 characters vs. 5, I would say that it depends. Sorry to give you a vague anwser but honestly that is the case--some teams/figures can and do succeed in such a way; other concepts have to have Action Advantage at their disposal in order to succeed.
In this particular case, I think that having 5 characters would be to your benefit because that helps take pressure off of Tony, who will have a big target on his head.
Have fun...
