Irrefutable proof that the point system has indeed changed in ten years. Overall she makes a good TKer, but to really get your money back, she needs to be targeting opposing characters with her TK as often as possible, because that still counts as a "hit" for promotion. I imagine it'll be tough to get promoted to more than Rookie Phoenix in anything under 500 points though. Humorously, I'd consider playing a R Phoenix with MG here. Play Phoenix with reckless abandon and get MG to promote. Perhaps a horde of MGs... Yes... I know my new "fun" team now...

Absolutely love the flavor here:
Jean gives everything she has, assaulting the opponent over and over
eventually she gets beaten
and rises as Dark Phoenix, losing control and kicking ###
I feel like this fig would be a lot better if Support hits counted towards promotion, instead of just attacks against opposing characters. I could better justify fielding her as a healer over Donald Blake or Elixer because of the chance she'll go all Phoenix on everyone. Granted, she wouldn't be healing any more, but still.
The card has a typo on it that I assume will be Erata'd. It is not on the description posted here though.

When Marvel Girl hits one or more opposing characters, after actions resolve, place a Promotion Token on her character card. When Jean Grey is KO'd, you may then roll a d6 that can't be rerolled and add 1 for each Promotion Token on her character card; on a result of 8 or higher, you may replace this character with M10A #021 Dark Phoenix on its yellow starting line.
Makes me want to run a team of Marvel Girl and like 20 Jean Grey's just to exploit it until they fix it, lol.
I'm liking this figure...the original Jean was on many a team in the OG days...even more so after NAAT. I like seeing the healing make a comeback too...even though it's more in line with the first movie than the comics...I'm going with the whole psychically dulling the pain angle.
@ENDER02. I believe that is NOT a typo. I'm pretty sure the new "name" rules being used (i.e. merge/split with antman/wasp being either ant-man/hank pym and wasp/janet van dyne and the others) means her "jean grey" under real name is the qualifier. As always, despite many peoples continued attempts to act otherwise with other characters as well as this one, this card is only referring to itself when it says "jean grey".
All this aside...I don't have a copy of the rules in front of me to double check and I can easily see how this IS an actual screw up needing errata.
I'm the judge at my venue though so I can just do the Sheldon sigh if someone (Hi anthony. lol) asks me if they can do this with other jean greys.
