The 2022 Trick-or-Treat season is upon us, and there is a long tradition of HeroClix teams being built to celebrate the fun and horror of the Spooky Season.
Follow the link to see one suggestion, and also to post your own ideas for seasonal teams!
The Disney+ HeroClix release gave us obvious Trick-or-Treat characters, but here is a 300-point HeroClix force where the family and friends each goes for the same theme:
100 F4 037 Dr. Fantastic +10 "I Really Should Deactivate These Doombots" +10 XoS Sword Object (Warlock) 75 FFFF 068v Valeria Von Doom +10 XoS Sword Object (Pogg ur-Pogg) 75 FFFF 067v Dr. Thing 15 F4 005 Doombot
= 295 points, Latveria theme.
This team originally had the Demon in an Armor, but it isn't as effective as it would be without the extra 10 points for Dr. Fantastic's Doombot-spawning power, and with no equipment added to the force. So let's just pretend that H.E.R.B.I.E. is dressed up as the first Doombot, and dedicate 20 points to equipment that has already been acquired through early trick-or-treating shall we?
Here are the dials:
I have trouble wanting to play this without the extra 10 points spent on Doombot-spawing. This character also has rather miserable inherent damage output for his cost (100 points!) that the Doombots and Franklin Galactus (end dial) make up for. It's absolutely necessary to get offense out of this figure, so some BCF to beef up the damage values in CLOSE is suggested... Close Combat because you will need any Spawned Doombots available to support him and/or other teammates.
Warlock is my first choice for equipment: In addition to extra damage potential, it offers the extra (potential) defense of Shape Change plus the potential disruption of Plasticity. With the longish dials and the only healing coming from friendly figures being KOed, the Light of Galador could offer some utility, but you would have to be very committed to team placement to make that work.
These guys can run interference for each of the other trick-or-treaters, and given the way that HeroClix games typically go it is very likely that there will be a LOT of opportunities to spawn these guys.
I wouldn't count of this kid making an appearance, as opponents will do their best to prevent Dr. Fantastic from ever being on the clicks to summon him. This is the best reason to opt for a sword object (on Dr. F) like Warlock, as the Shape Change it grants has the possibility to disrupt the flow of attacks from the opposing force.
Valeria Von Doom is the reason for the team, so no matter any negative feelings about this dial The Kid Stays in the Picture. The dial is a little soft, and I don't like that the 50-50 Shape Change is the primary means of defense. Yet I think that if she is able to pick-and choose targets to attack, she should be respectable... which is why I suggest the Giant Reach-granting Pogg Ur-Pogg sword object. For more placement shenanigans, she could wield the Starlight Sword, or even Alluvium (for Smoke Cloud), but those swords' extra effects are too situational for my taste. Valeria Von Doom also has this trait worth remembering that lasts as long as she is on the map:
YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF MY ARMY!: When an opposing character that wasn't on their starting force misses, after resolutions give it an action token. If that character has [Autonomous symbol] instead KO it.
Dr. Thing doesn't start with any equipment, because you are free to start with FFFF 062v Dr. Doom (with the Time Platform) and swap him out into his Dr. Thing costume.... or just steal a 10-point (or less) piece of equipment from the opposing team. 75-points may seem like a high cost for this dial, but I think it is possible to get a perfectly respectable amount of offense out of it, especially with Doombots helping out. Dr. Thing's trait preventing sideline elements from swapping in depends on him being on his starting click, so its not as disruptive as it could otherwise be.
That's my entry for the 2022 Halloween season, feel free to follow with your own suggestions!
Theme: X-Men or more appropriately X-Vamps!
Cost 300
Okay by today's standards Count Wolvula is a bit expensive, but with some low-cost options now available this theme is just too fun not to try out. (Maybe we will see a legacy card for him someday.) Anyway, he's giving the others steal energy and some other vampire tricks for his minions. People often overlook that he also has stealth. At the right moment, double perplexing his attack should nearly guarantee he gets on those awesome clix with some double perplex of his own to return the favor for his team.
Storm armed with the seducer gives her the chance to do some real damage. Plus the mind control gimick and the blades namesake fit the vamp theme. With stealth, combat reflexes, and the blade she can be a nifty tie-up piece. Just don't forget to make use of the granted steal energy. (If your adjacent opponent is on flurry, blast them away with some force blast after you've had your way with them.)
Magik is here for two reasons, 1) group teleporter getting the team in and out of where they need to be at a given round. 2) additional perplex to help buff the team as needed.
Scott is here to provide some additional caveats to the team. for starters there's leadership, then there is his rally ability to bolster the X-Team ability. Oh and he's also going to be the guy to snipe long-range on any invulnerable types that present a threat.
Of course, this team will take good planning and some finesse to pull a win, but it fits the theme of the season and is all about the fun. If nothing else a full team with steal energy, and the X-Men TA should have some staying power.

I almost made that LE Vampire Wolverine work many years ago because of the Steal Energy-granting trait. In an era of even cheaper X-Men, I wonder if he could do any better.
Morbius makes a perfect close range swarm team, especially with the 2021 rules update --he'll never be penalized for pushing, so it's easy to get him to his top click.
I know highlander rules are a thing, but if anything's generic, it's Morbius. After all, just look at his movie! And hell, nothing's scarier than those reviews!
I would LOVE to see the Horrorclix figures added to the Units section, at least the AvP set. But instead, I decided to go big, and try to do a tribute to one of the best October-December movies around.
Nightmare Before Clixmas!
A 600 point team designed to represent some of the key players in that wonderful movie.
Undead's Vampires, as the Vampire Musical Trio!
Undead's Werewolf, for our flannel-wearing fiend.
Undead's Dr. Frankenstein gives us a very easy substitute for Dr. Finkelstein
One of my biggest stretches, Black Lantern Wonder Woman is about the best I can do for Sally. Do you all know how tough it is to find a zombie woman in this game?
For the Two-Faced mayor, I decided to go with Lex instead of, well, Two-Face.
For Jack Skellington himself, a classic Gentleman Ghost. Jack's pretty polite, after all.
Faithful Zero can be none other than Ace the Bat-Hound.
Holiday Elf for Jolly Saint Nick.
And finally, Mojo gives us the needed bulk to play Oogie Boogie, and his Wolverine Bystanders can give us Lock, Shock, and Barrel.
A bit pricey at 596, but who cares, it's Christmas and Halloween wrapped up in a bundle.
Enjoy!

Stretching my creative thoughts a bit, I call this one the front lawn decorations theme. It consists of a tombstone, a jack-o-lantern, a goblin, and a spider.
I revised my team for a tournament I'll be playing this week. This is for a 400 point event but we use a discount formula for silver age figures. If the card has a dial on the back multiply by 0.9 point cost, round down to nearest 5 point increment. If no dial on the card then use 0.85. This helps make older figures more viable and encourages their use. So this team adds up to 400 points.
A favorite theme team of mine are rulers of Hell or even Splinter Realms. They usually count as a Ruler team, though Monster or Mystical may also be possible.
Marvel usually puts out the most of these fiends.
The list of True HELL-LORDS includes:
Mephisto, Blackheart, Pluto, Hela, Dormammu, Satana Hellstrom, Daimon Hellstrom, Magik, and Colossus was for a while, and Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider as well. There are others but have yet to be clixed.
You could add Lords of the Splinter Realms that include Nightmare or Dwell-In-Darkness...
I was working in the lab late one night,
when my eyes beheld an eerie sight.
For my monster, from his slab, began to rise,
and suddenly, to my surprise...
He did the mash!
I've changed my mind on this lineup countless times, but right now it looks like I'll be taking this team of Marvel heroes going to a costume party next Tuesday. (Our store's Halloween game is built to 333 points.)
Hope I'm not too late. I'm also very bad at the game so these ideas are gonna be bad, but fun. The local event for me is 600 so I'm building for that right now. I'm sure lower versions of these ideas may work. Maybe I'll work on them this weekend. I really need to test these ideas.
Been a minute for me so here's hoping I remember formatting. Teams are in no particular order.
Also, I don't know how to do build in post and don't want to type out all my characters so I'll just have an imgur link of them. Sorry. It feels too long to put dials for each of them.
Edit: the awesome slicktrickyrick put the team build in the very next post. Thank you so much!
Team idea 1: Swarm
Saw someone use Sevilithi Vampire above and it inspired me. I only have 3 though. The idea is crawl forward and mind control pieces to you. Plus, theoretically 2 free mind controls, a free incap, and two free attacks(three w/ cloak). This team sounds really fun. Can't wait to try them, though they may be awful. Also, for Miss Martian, is as free once per turn or can it trigger multiple times? Should probably ask on rules post.
Team 2: Nightmare.
So I've actually never used this Nightmare, as I got him a while after he came out. I tend not to like lack of more and attack. Plus one 3 damage. But if there was ever a time to use him, it's now. But I really have no good ideas. With a sword and some tks,.maybe he will do good? 14 attack is nice. Also, if the opponent has a close ranged piece, Brawn can charge, punch, and then crawl away, laughing. But how can I make Nightmare good?
Team 3: Symbiotes
Knull may be too many points but if I can play well, the healing from Agent Anti Venom and Scream(after getting hit) might be crazy. Plus, Vermillion to Scream cause lol, maximum carnage.Carnage. These characters are all really good, maybe them really dangerous. Rogue and Wolverine are amazing and have good healing. But everyone feels fragile and more healing is good. Probably sub optimal though.
Idk what I'm doing. Please let me know what you think, as I'm very curious. Which team is best. What could make them better.
Sorry for so much text. Thanks for reading.
Finally, Tidge, I want to try your team, as I'm always looking for ways to make Valeria useful. Who can I use instead of Dr Thing? Only other Doom chase I have is Sorcerer Supreme. Would he work?
