1. Hercules by limelight - this feels more like Kingdom Hearts than the film but that’s a compliment. I can hear the DeVito commentary when fielding him.
OK! Let's try that again :P
Voting for ROUND 1 is over, and who knew which Heroclix lurked in the hearts of nerds...? Shadesmar's The Shadow! Great work!!
Enter Sandman.: Incapacitate. // Opposing characters within range that have two action tokens can't have their action tokens removed except by clearing. Nightmare deals Penetrating damage to opposing figures with two action tokens. Your fears are....Endless: Power: Choose a character that has been KO'd. Place them adjacent to an opposing figure on their last click, then they may make an attack. After resolutions, return the figure to its KO area. Infinite Dreams: Mind Control, Stealth, Hypersonic Speed, Sidestep, Close Combat Expert
Eternal waking: Plasticity
As tangible as smoke: Mastermind
If you die in a dream, you die in the waking world: Poison
I know your fears: Outwit
My realm, my rules: Impervious
If we shadows have offended: Shape Change
Design notes: Let’s fix Nightmare! Thanks to Shadesmar for fixing my pic. I hate his sculpt in WoV, so I took a spare MK and updated him to be riding his black steed. I’m keeping his cost and values the same, adding a trait to bring out KO’d people for one last attack, and buffing his speed power to give him some mobility. I’d play him.

THE MAN-WONDER: Leap/Climb, Precision Strike, Super Senses.
BIFF! BANG! POW!: When Nightwing makes a close attack, all attack rolls of double 3, 4, 5, or 6 are critical hits.
Significant Appearance: Batman '66 Meets Wonder Woman '77 (2017)
Gamma Fueled Engine of Destruction: When The Hulk succeeds Willpower or clears 2 action tokens, heal him 1 click. // The Hulk can reduce penetrating damage and takes a maximum of 2 damage from attacks.
Retalitory Rage: When The Hulk is hit by an attack, you may place him adjacent to the attacker, and if you do, on your next turn, if The Hulk attacks, he must attack an opposing character who hit him with an attack since your last turn.
Rampage: Charge, Flurry.
Smash: Quake, each hit character is dealt 4 damage instead of 2.
DESIGN NOTES: Couple twists compared to Slade's version. I opted for Cosmic Energy TA out of simplicity of granting Willpower and Outwit proofing. I also opted for no direct STOP per say, rather a cap on how much damage he can take in one hit.

Pro Pilot Don here was, I think, my first Ninja Turtle. Playmates did a line of turtles where each represented one branch of the military. Was it a bid to drive up recruitment in elementary school kids? Probably. Did it work? Who knows!
Today, all that's left of my Pro Pilot Don is the figure and the parachute, likely because both were too big for a preschooler to easily lose. All that means is Air Force Donny went on many a mission with the G.I. Joes.

Movement and Targeting: █ (Destroy) King of Monsters: Leadership. Once per turn, Godzilla may re-roll a single d6 roll he made. //When Godzilla makes a ranged attack, targeted characters cannot reduce damage during that attack. //SAFEGUARD: Outwit. Destroy the City: When Godzilla destroys printed blocking terrain after resolutions heal him one click for each blocking terrain destroyed. //When Godzilla uses Improved Targeting to destroy blocking terrain he can destroy more than one blocking terrain. Atomic Heart: Invincible. When Godzilla would be damaged by Pulse Wave or Energy Explosion, instead of dealing damage heal him a number of clicks equal to the damage he would have been dealt. Protected: Pulse Wave. Angered Beast: STOP. Exploit Weakness, Battle Fury but can make ranged attacks.
Inspired by Shadesmar’s thread, although I took a bit of a different approach that took some inspiration from the Kong Iconic dial. I grew up with the Heisei Godzilla hence why I used that image so I feel like this dial is mores inspired by that version for Godzilla more than anything!

It's The Only Way To Be Sure: At the beginning of the game, no friendly characters can be outside of your starting area. // Once all friendly characters reach the enemy starting area, they must remain in that starting area for three more turns. Once all actions resolve at the end of the third turn, the team is 'extracted' and they, you, automatically win the game. This trait's effect remains even if Corporal Hicks is KO'd. I Like To Keep This Handy...For Close Encounters: POWER: Make a CLOSE attack against all adjacent opposing characters. All damage done is penetrating, at a minimum of 3 damage. This power can only be used once per game. He Likes You, Burke: Leadership. Corporal Hicks can target characters with the Weyland-Yutani keyword, regardless of special powers or traits.

Kirby Krackle Prerequisites: Cosmic Energy Team ability or Cosmic Keyword
When this character takes damage, if no damage was reduced, ignore 1 click of damage.
At the beginning of your turn, you may modify one of this character's combat values by +1 and modify it's attack, defense or damage by -1 10 points
Notes
Noticed that there wasn't a Thanos on Higherground's setlist so I helped myself. The first six clicks represent each of the Infinity Gems individually (I'll leave it up to you to figure out which click is which gem). Clicks 7,8 and 9 each represent 2 gems used together. Click 10 is the assembled gauntlet. 11 is Thanos as a mere farmer at the end of the story.
Higherground also is adding Feat cards to make up for the lack of special powers so I took a crack at one myself to give Thanos a bit of a boost.

BODY DON'T FAIL ME NOW: Willpower. FREE: Place up to three Kaioken tokens on this card. For each Kaioken token on this card, modify Goku's Movement and Attack +1. // At the beginning of your turn, remove all Kaioken tokens from this card, and given Goku an action token for each token removed in this way. If you cannot, deal Goku 1 unavoidable damage for each token that could not be given to him. KAIOKEN X4: STOP. Penetrating/Psychic Blast. POWER: Modify Damage +3 and make a Ranged Attack targeting a single opposing character. After resolutions, KO Goku.
Design Notes: I'm a Dragon Ball enjoyer and scrolling through this set was a lot of fun! My favorite period is definitely early Z, and I adore the art style of the Saiyan Saga. It still has the classic Dragon Ball art style with just hints at the way Akira Toriyama's style would continue to change over the course of Z. So, my Goku is largely inspired by that early period where Goku relied on the volatile Kaioken technique to stand a chance during his first fight with Vegeta (which people seem to forget, Goku had to tap out first in that fight).

Using the 200pt formula on Slade's old thread. Logan definitely deserves to have a long destructive dial with STOPs. Decided to take an uncommon approach and showcase him tracking his prey to start then just going berserk and not worrying about being hit anymore as he tries to defeat whoever he's fighting. (I know his trait overlaps with Precision Strike a bit but I wanted the help vs Super Senses haha)

Role Tag: Captain Punching Boulders: Super Strength. Critical Shot: Chris Redfield's critical hits deal penetrating damage. Tank Controls: Ranged Combat Expert, but only if Chris Redfield has not moved this turn.
Movement: Characters, Destroys Blocking Gravitational Warp: Plasticity, Sidestep. Other characters within range and line of fire modify Speed -3. Screaming and Flailing: Quake. When Nightmare uses Quake, he deals 3 damage instead of 2. Gravity Manipulator: Energy Shield/Deflection Impervious Unmasked: STOP. For the rest of the game, Nightmare has Battle Fury, even if this power is lost.
Based on Squabbler's Metroid Prime thread, which touched on Other M, though Superherojhn's video game thread fits as well, as does their own excellent Metroid thread. I have a lot of mixed feelings about Other M, but one of the highlights was bringing back this creepy boss from Metroid Fusion. With this reappearance Nightmare solidifies a spot as one of Samus's greatest enemies. Nightmare adds a lot to Other M's storyline, serving as a bridge between that game's plot and Fusion, as well as a dark mirror to both the Baby Metroid and perhaps Samus herself.
Both of Nightmare's boss fights had a similar structure, starting off with it shooting at range and using it's gravitational warp to deflect ranged attacks. After it's mask is broken off, it attempts to ram into Samus with it's massive body.

Every week I say that there was an overabundance of incredible dials, but this week, it feels more true than ever. Spoiled for choice, it took me WAY longer than usual to narrow it down to three.
Shadesmar’s Thanos - Not only is this a fantastic back-to-basics dial for Thanos and very creative with its ability placement (tell us which gemssss!), but it also matches the style of Higherground’s Excelsior set, notably with that Kirby Krackle effect.
Brennan4’s Nightmare - Thank you for the nod to my thread! This is a fantastic, wholistic interpretation of my favorite boss from Fusion. He’s got it all— the gravity shenanigans, the mask, the battering ram later portion of the fight. Just fantastic stuff.
Talonknife’s Chris Redfield - I used to be a Resident Evil mega fan (it’s a long story), and I’m impressed as hell that you squeezed multiple versions of Chris into a single dial, especially when RE5 Chris is so different from REmake Chris, and yet this all feels cohesive. Love Tank Controls SP!
Honorable Mentions
2 Gun Kid’s Unknown Soldier - Beyond being honored that you picked one of my threads, holy s***, this is a perfect rendition of the character that interplays with modern official mechanics. I think it could stand to be 45-50 points in today’s game, but I love this dude to death.
LostGaladorian’s Ulysses Bloodstone - My thanks for the nod to my thread! Fun take on this fella! It never occurred to me to dial him, but I like his surprising survivability and supporting role!
Hesster56’s Nightmare - Would’ve been my #1 for rendering the least playable WoV character playable and fun and for having an incredible sculpt. Just needed to have been made for someone else’s thread.

Absolutely Bloodthirsty: Stealth. // When an opposing character takes damage, put a Bloodthirsty token on Man-Eater's card. FREE: Remove a Bloodthirsty token and Man-Eater may move up to his Speed value for Free. Eating Enemy Soldiers: Battle Fury, Exploit Weakness, Combat Reflexes, and Steal Energy.
Another weirdo from Silver Sable's Wild Pack, Man-Eater answers the ancient question of "how long would it take a man spliced with a tiger to start eating everyone around him." Not long, Tex. Not long.
As much as I like the Silver Sable and the Wild Pack series, her Wild Pack cohorts frustrate me. There's a ton of infighting on the team, at least one of them is openly racist and misogynistic, and most of them are thinly characterized.
Still, I love the concept. Superpowered black ops teams are catnip for me. Suicide Squad, Thunderbolts, H.A.R.D. Corps, Wild Pack-- I'm here for all of it! I'd love to see a modern take on the Wild Pack. I think there's potential for fantastic team dynamics and political intrigue.

Significant Appearance:Sonic and The Black Knight, (Nintendo Wii, 2009)
I was spoiled for choice when it came to flavor text this week, and that's all thanks to the superb writing for this game. Anyone in the Sonic community would either tell you the game has the best writing in the series, or they're sick of people saying it does - I'm firmly in the first camp, myself. After Sonic Colors dropped, and especially after Archie's Sonic run was rebooted and later cancelled, I can't help but feel like Sonic's personality and characterization has taken a little bit of a nosedive - something the latest game tries to fix a little, I think, but it definitely feels like baby steps back to the peak it reached prior.
Between Sonic Adventure in 1999 and Sonic and The Black Knight in 2009, there was a clear characterization for Sonic and his cast of friends and enemies. The simple 'too cool for school' 90s kid take had slowly evolved into a cross between that previous self and a more anime-inspired 'shonen' protagonist - bold, willing to fight, but ultimately an undeniable force for good. While the 2000s are generally remembered these takes for their 'gritty and edgy' revisions of otherwise simple or tonally different series, I always appreciated when Sonic tried that route. Not just the Shadow the Hedgehog route of including guns and motorcycles, but attempts to give Sonic and his adventures real stakes, less clear-cut moral choices, or absolutely lethal gauntlets (mostly in the comics, that last one). The world felt a little more fleshed out, both in the games and the comics, and you could generally track not only the setting's progression but the characters' progressions across the games, at least until the soft reboot that was Sonic Colors in 2010.
Which brings us back to Sonic and The Black Knight, the final game of this era and the last to star its Sonic voice actor, Jason Griffith (and if you couldn't tell, he's my favorite Sonic VA, though I still love Roger, Ryan, Jaleel and all the rest). He, along with his 'generation' of VAs really hit their peak stride here, and luckily they were given a decently long and emotionally charged script to read. Here, all those themes of the era and Sonic's values are put front and center. Sonic is made to kill an evil King Arthur, but slaying the ruler of the realm isn't smiled upon in these lands. He was once a good man, but was corrupted by his sword in this version of the story. Instead of respecting the law of the land, Sonic merely says he can't be 'the hero every time', takes up the sword Caliburn, and gets to work cutting and slicing his way to King Arthur in the hopes of taking the corrupted king out.
The whole game centers around this, the difference between being lawful and being right, even if that means making life difficult for yourself. On top of that, it tackles the subjects of mortality and tradition. None of it feels too forced, in my opinion anyway. I think that might summarize why it's such a great Sonic story - it's still somewhat simple, no one gives an argumentative essay on why their life philosophy is superior, though one or two come close. Yet it's not dumb, and it has merit. Sonic is allowed to be a little questionable, and the lessons addressed, despite the rather absurd setting, are relevant to most, from childhood on up. I don't know if I could see the current incarnations of Sonic the Hedgehog proudly professing to not being the hero of this story, or be wiling to kill for his beliefs if it comes to it.
Anyway, dial itself - the progression of clicks is supposed to represent his rising skill with his sword Caliburn, and eventually helping the members of the Round Table break free of their moral binding to the crown and their king's dark wishes in the name of serving the people directly through Empower. (Not leadership, I never felt that represented his style as well - he's not a strategist or too much of a tactician, he's more so about inspiring others to become better for themselves). He stops doing his typical moves in favor of using the sword more intricately, before dragging out his clicks in a stubborn refusal to give up.
