Dear Sirs & Madams of the Wizkids Corporate Entity,
I would like to request ROM as a Heroclix Iconix selection.
ROM has recently been reprinted by Marvel for several generations that did not get to participate in those great stories.
Please deliver the greatest Spaceknight to us.
Thank You,
BAM
WHAT an EXCELLENT suggestion!
"Johnny, what can you make of this?" "I can make a hat, a broach, a pterodactyl!!!"
Chances are close to nil. Hasbro owns Wizards of the Coast who licenses DND miniatures to NECA.
Disney owns Marvel who licenses to NECA. In my professional experience Disney is more broad strokes and approvals than micromanage licensing of their numerous subsidiaries. We don’t even have Star Wars let alone Disney princesses and their relationship is the most consistent.
I’d love ROM in the game but no one should be holding their breath
I'd wager a strong guess that Marvel has zero say whatsoever when it comes to ROM. I think he'll always be associated with Marvel since unlike Transformers and GI Joe, ROM never really had any success outside of his comics and/or nostalgia for them. But like the Transformers and GI Joe, it doesn't really matter that Marvel's writers established all of the creative groundwork that defined the characters, to the point of basically creating them, the character of ROM is entirely in Hasbro's hands.
So at the very least, long shot though it definitely one hundred percent is, Marvel/Disney surely can't factor into this proposal at all.
And I feel like the first step to ever getting something like this going is to make sure Hasbro knows that there's a significant enough desire for ROM that they'd be willing to do something with it. They've just kinda sat on him for decades, periodically granting a comics license to him, but that's about it. That SDCC action figure is so niche, that it hardly counts.
Make sure Hasbro knows you want some new ROM stuff. If enough people do, they might be willing to put him back out there, and who knows? Maybe even get him a Heroclix figurine. Maybe.
ASK ME ONCE I’LL ANSWER TWICE JUST WHAT I KNOW I’LL TELL BECAUSE I WANNA!
SOUND DEVICE AND LOTS OF ICE I'LL SPELL MY NAME OUT LOUD BECAUSE I WANNA!
