Been a long time since I commented on this thread.
First I'd like to say, I did not realize MOTU had such a massive wealth of spin-offs and characters to draw from. there are so many dials here and lots of ideas I wish I thought of for some of my own threads dedicated to other franchises.
Admittedly it also helps seeing someone post dials who is more familiar with the modern language of the rules, so I can pick up on it and word my own dials this way and understand what the new wording is for the effects I want to get across. Your thread has, indirectly, helped me improve on my formatting and word use in my own dials. So thanks for your efforts to make so many dials and take the time to use modern rules lingo properly and in a way that's easier for old school players and dial makers to understand and pick up on.
As for how true the dials are to the characters I wish I could comment there, but I've never really watched or read any of the source material short of the DC Comics for those crossover dials, but the dials don't look broken or overpowered, compared to the current dials as of B:taS and more recent. Though some of these "mount" dials being so low in cost for what they do give makes me think I'm dramatically overcosting my own dials in recent threads. :/
Thanks for the feedback. Glad I could provide some inspiration. I have no secret formula to point values. I design the dial first and then assign a point value. I then scour the units section for matching point values and try to be just a little less good than the MIN/MAX pieces. I make heavy use of the EDIT button but often times my ideas are out of the normal realm of the rules and its hard to determine proper point values without playtesting. As far out of the box as I've gone with my designs WK still surprises me as to how far they'll go to sell the next set.
Mounts are peanut bases. There are certain situations and powers where that is beneficial, but its usually a hindrance with a 0 range figure. Unless there's been a rules update they can't be thrown with TK and move according to the most restrictive occupancy of their two squares. They are a severe liability when there's Energy Explosion present. Powers triggered off adjacency get a boost for sure but if the dial doesn't have it I penalize its point value a little.
If the Mount is used with it will be using the Pilots combat values in most situations, which are paid for by the pilots point value. Since you have to swap attack and damage powers with the pilot I avoid excessive power use in those slots which also keeps point values lower. There is no need for high damage values if they swap for pilot's.
Since the sets are designed for SEALED and inter-set CONSTRUCTED, point values are meant to coincide with each other regardless of the power creep we get from WK. As long as they seem balanced with the rest of the designs mission accomplished.
That aside, I'm probably still undercosted more often than not. It's hard to cage the inner fanboy.
