About four years ago I took my first venture into music, digital in particular. At first it was more of a novelty/hobby for me and as an avid Nine Inch Nails fan, I was excited just to be able to create my own unique sounds. Ironically, Custom Dials has also been an artistic expression for me for some time (even though I rarely if ever play Heroclix anymore,) however last year I decided to give up designing Custom Dials and dedicate my creative outlet solely into music.
Over Christmas one of my best friends (whom is a musician) gifted me an AKAI MPK Mini Controller, which opened up a new world of possibilities with my music. Since then I've completed several projects and was lucky enough to have an album professionally mastered.
Recently I started a new EP just for fun that I wanted to be based around Old School Video Game Music. Those who know me on here know I'm a sucker for 80s/90s nostalgia and since I finally got my hands on a Keyboard Controller, I knew I wanted to make my own version and take of some video game classics. Hopefully it brings back good memories for you as it did me
This also seemed like a great opportunity to dust off the ole Heroclix Design Pencils and create some Custom Dials to accompany the music. I have to admit that I had a blast not only designing the music, but the Dials as well. That being said you'll have to excuse my design skills these days as I'm a little rusty and admittedly haven't kept up with Heroclix in a minute (my bad!)
I will reveal and post the Custom Dials as I upload the Music Tracks to Soundcloud ...

It's been a lot of fun reimagining some of the themes and of course adding as much synthesizer to them as possible As far as Heroclix, I play once in a blue moon and even then, strictly TMNT. So a lot of these designs will be in spirit of the EP itself, nostalgia. There's a lot of fun in store for this little project, hope you enjoy!
This next design was one I've been looking forward to designing for some time, coincidentally this musical project forced my hand into finally doing my take on a Nintendo Classic ...#memorylane here we come
Morph Ball: Bombs POWER: MOVE, . If Samus moved in a straight horizonal or vertical path, after actions resolve, deal 1 penetrating damage to each opposing character occupying a square she moved through.
Arm CannonAt the beginning of your turn, FREE: choose one of the powers listed below. Samus can use the chosen power until she chooses again:
Ice Beam Incapacitate. When Samus has no action tokens and uses Incapacitate, hit characters receive up to 2 action tokens.
Long Beam Ranged Combat Expert. When Samus has no action tokens and uses Ranged Combat Expert, she may choose her range value as one of the combat values to modify.
Wave Beam Precision Strike. When Samus has no action tokens and uses Precision Strike, she may use it with up to two targets.

Good to see you back my friend. I've been loving the music since you started sharing it. "Dreams, Nightmares, and Wonderland" is still a favorite of mine to put on in the background while I write. The new material has only gotten better.
I haven't had a chance to look over the dials yet, but you know I'll provide some feedback asap.
Both dial show your hallmark no repeating clicks and aesthetics. One note, one their pick-a-powers. The 'FREE:' doesn't need to be there since you have the 'At the beginning of your turn' element.
Good job on both the songs also. I played them for my 6 year-old son. He is really into all things Nintendo and making 8-bit art. He freaked.
I love the details of this dial. Letting him pick 2 powers if he's the last one on the board is a great idea. The spin attack captures how the character plays in the game and is a nice addition.
Plus any design with the throw grenade ability is tops in my book.

Thanks, Reno - you've always been supportive in all of my creative outlets including music and I truly appreciate that. This one is just for fun but hoping to add a few nuances and touches of my own influence. I don't plan on having these Files mastered so Headphones is highly recommend

Samus's pick a power damage SP is pretty dang awesome. Those special tweaks really make this design pop. Bonus points for the custom team ability.
There's going to be a Theme to a lot of the Designs, in that there will be a lot of "optional" choices and strategies. This is my attempt at simulating video game in Heroclix, yet keeping the designs streamlined and "clean" like I've always tried to do (as best as I can.) I see that a lot of stuff and designs are "retired" now like even and Team Bases ... which is all fine and good but make no mistake, you'll see a lot of "retired" mechanics in my Designs because the namesake of the Project does say "Nostalgia" in it
Speaking of outdated mechanics, I just couldn't help but utilize Speed Tokens for this next design. A) it was just too easy and B) it felt wrong not to ...

Growing up I was a Nintendo Kid, but admittedly always wanted a Sega Genesis. A few of my friends had the Sega and I used to LOVE going over and having the opportunity to play Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Toe Jam & Earl, Altered Beast, Joe Montana Sports Talk Football, the list goes on! So I was really excited to make my own take on the Sonic "classic" theme song - hope you enjoyed it

Mario and Luigi are pitch friggin' perfect! I love that you took the Ryu and Ken approach to designing them, giving them the same powers but in different order so as to cover each other a bit better. Seriously good work!

Small Mario and Small Luigi. Great mechanism for these guys. The power ups are nice also. The inverted designs are the perfect Dark_Knight touch to these characters.
