We have a monthly build contest for our podcast "Dial H For Heroclix". The rules are simple. We give you build rules for an event. The event is one that is upcoming at one of our local venues. You build us a team. You can give us ideas on how to play your team and ideas for map choice as well. The more information, the more likely we are to choose your team. We look through all your team submissions, and each pick one we like the best. We use your team during our tourney. Whichever of us does best in the tourney wins. The person who submitted the winning team build gets 6 custom poker chip action markers, featuring a comics logo of your choice (examples can be seen on our Instagram).
BUILD RULES:
--Build 2 different 400pt Golden Age teams
--One team of comic book villains and one team of comic book heroes. (If you aren't sure whether a character would be considered hero or villain just ask.)
--Figures Only. No relics, resources, entities, ATAs, Feats, BFCs, etc. Constructs or similar objects that can be attached to a particular figure through a trait are legal.
--Winner of the roll off at the beginning of match chooses either team or map. Players play opposite team of opponent.
--HEROES teams will get Police team ability and once per turn one of your characters can use the Capture ability.
--VILLAINS teams will get Batman Enemy team ability and once per turn one of your characters can use Sidestep.
--Theme Team benefits do not apply to rolloff

-turn 2, have sin and wolverine use their leadership, then begin to move up the team (pushing non Indom characters NOT recommended)

-Get Iron Man to pilot the cycle and carry coulson so he can leadership it + enhancement
-Try to "upgrade" thor into the TDW 001 version early on
-Use Thor and Ant Man as tie up/close combat attackers so Coulson and Sky Cycle can stay back and snipe.
-Would not recommend pushing anyone without indomitable
-Don't be afraid to use the Sky Cycle's "Upside Down Shot" Damage special, you're rarely going to roll a one, and plus you have several figures to provide Theme Team Prob in case of that rare chance.

I may disagree with your opinions, but I will always respect them.
- Choose Avengers Mansion Outdoor Map
- Move/position everyone first turn, carrying Ultron-8s with Ultron Drones. Take high ground to sweep down and attack after clearing.
- Make sure you charge up Drone #014 every turn and fire away on turn 4 or 5, when advantage is best. Don't be afraid to let them push into Enhancement clicks and stay near others to taxi to safety, if needed.
- Choose the Crash Site map.
- Nightcrawler carries Wolverine while Banshee and Storm move into position, ending next to each other with LoS to back third of map.
- After clearing (if necessary), use Nightcrawler to capture best target, TK Banshee into attack range and follow up with Wolverine.
- Get Nightcrawler home to dump his captive!

Choose a map with water on it so Namor can use regeneration.
Keep the team together to use the Defenders team ability when needed.
Human Torches energy explosion should keep the other team apart so they can't use the Batman enemy TA.
Push Namor early and use Bucky's support to heal him later.
Pick a map with a good amount of hindering for owlman and ultraman.
Superwoman and Ultraman start on the rookie dials.
Superwoman chooses Owlman with her trait to boost defenses to offset the police TA.
Use Atomica for team probs and mastermind.

Whirlwind is tie up while the others are formalized unit. Hydra Recruits and Hydra Agent H are in front, then Red skull and Imperial Hydra are in back. Using shield TA to enhance Skulls range and lower opponents defense while using mind control. Mastermind and hiding behind friendlies will keep skull alive while imperial hydra has a chance to keep the canon fodder alive. Giving the recruits and imperial hydra actions to use shield can significantly increase skulls damage potential. I like Arcades arena for this team with some clear paths but hindering for when skull is on his own.

I've been doing really well with a similar team. Move Ironman carrying Ant-man and Hulk up Keeping your opponent's swing in mind. If an opponent is now within 11. Perplex Ant-man's movement then Phase up 9 and morph into Ant-man205 and placing any ant swarm token. Outwit the opponents defense. Hulk uses the Move and Attack ability picking up an Ultra heavy along the way to make an attack using his special. Hulk swings with an 11 for 4. Side step the ant forward. Give Cap a power action to 1/2 move Ant-man adjacent to the target. Morph Ant-man into Giant-Man 44. Perplex Ironmans Damage to a 4 then running shot psychic blast the target. If the attack hits Giant-Man can be given a close combat attack to hit the target again or begin hitting on a new threat. Switch to 202 for stealthy outwit, Giant-Man 200 for close outwit with flurry if need be but Giant-Man 44 and Hulk are best with empower and a possible free attack. I liked Pyms lab as I can phase through the walls and Koolaid man Hulk for clean attacks.
Shield Theme. The Idea is to have Elektra do some capturing if the opportunity presents itself. Fitz comes with that ridiculous Monkey that can help everyone out. Brother V can mindcontrol people to Elektra and then she can capture and be TK'd back to base from Fitz. You can limit free actions with Agent 13 and everyone will probably have plus to range with all the shield TA.
And A fun little AIM theme team. Bill can carry up the little guys to get good positioning for Hydra TA and enhancement. they can copy the 11 attack from either MOD to attack themselves. This team at the very least should give your opponent a good laugh and maybe they will be too distracted by their laughing that you can take advantage and get the win.

Seems to me that in this format you want to lose the map roll at the beginning of the game. That way you can see what team you are playing and pick the exact map you want for that team. With that in mind, I've put these two teams together:
This team has some crazy mobility between Wonder Girl's hypersonic, Robin's Improved Movement and Magenta's awesome placing abilities. Speedy is there is pick opponents away from really far away and Robin is an awesome Titans support/ tie-up piece. If you're running this team, I'd actually recommend the Titan's Tower: Great Hall map. There are lots of walls you can hide your team behind before popping out for your attack. Or Walls for Speedy to be shooting around. Or that great big T-shaped batch of hindering terrain right in the middle that Robin could potentially hang out in to mess with the opponents with his Precision Strike.
This team is pretty much all about the alpha strike. Have Black Adam carry Turtle up and when he is in position, crush your opponents with an Ultra-Heavy. Because he has top-dial Invincible, he can ignore the penetrating damage Turtle hands out if he zooms out with his Hypersonic Speed. And then Felix Faust hangs in the back providing support. Make use of his perplex to support Black Adam and his awesome spell book to slow down your opponent. If you find yourself running this team, I'd play on either Ranx (WoL) or Hellhouse (Deadpool set). Both maps have lots of blocking terrain, which make it really hard to get alpha-striked by the opponent as you move up. Also remember, a lot of Faust's really good abilities are limited to only 7 squares away, but are not stopped by blocking terrain!
The idea here is for Shiva to run point, moving up Stealthily, stalking a point-rich target. Falcon Bodyguards can take turns Carrying each other, sticking close to Shiva in order to take advantage of Batman Enemy TA.
Kingpin and Bullseye hang back, with Kingpin offering Outwit (via Bullseye or Shiva) to strip a target of defenses as well as Enhancement to bump up Bullseye's damage. With Bullseye ignoring characters for LoF, he can shoot through Shiva or the FBGs and finish off whoever they started on. Wilson is also giving Bullseye RCE.
So Outwit defenses with Kingpin through a friendly (likely Bullseye). Apply Hydra TA from Kingpin, if you can. Use RCE and Empower and Bullseye has a 12 AV for 6 Damage!
This team has good range (Halo and Black Lightning each have 8 range, GF has an adequate 6) - so use the range and the Police TA, as well as the Outsiders TA to eliminate any ES/D out there. Resist the temptation to TK GF in close. Let opponents make the mistake of trying to base him, then he can wail on them.
I probably wouldn't TK Katana out either. Use your range and Running Shot. If opponents bunch up, then have Black Lightning use and Incap to shut down who he can. Then have Katana leap in and use Idom, then whittle away at folks. Or have her attack someone GF caught in his Fist.
She has Batman TA, not Outsiders, so keep her in hindering so she isn't picked off.
These guys don't have a deep dial of strong attack values; So it is important to use the Police and Outsiders TAs to maximize your chances to hit.
Sadly, this team isn't very fast and can't afford superfluous pushing damage, so I wouldn't bother with the Capture ability, unless you were already in or very close to your starting area.

Yea sorry, we announced the teams we picked back about 3 weeks ago but then we had a weekend off. When we came back last weekend I forgot to discuss best build. We will address it this next coming episode.
