For what seems like forever, Wolverine has been feuding with his enemy Sabretooth. Their long-running history that's been littered with blood and corpses. But it finally comes to a climax in one last battle that only one of them is going to walk away from. In this edition of Comic Accurate, it's a team from Wolverine: Evolution!
In 2007, Wolverine's book got a new creative team of Jeph Loeb and Simone Bianchi that intended make a story that would forever change Wolverine. Technically, they delivered. The arc, entitled "Evolution", revealed parts of Wolverine and Sabretooth's history that stemmed back further than Wolverine had ever imagined. It introduced a new villain for Wolvie with the shadowy mastermind Romulus, killed off Feral and more importantly, also killed off Sabretooth (for at least five years anyways).
It wasn't a story that was received all that well. It was loaded with retcons, plot holes and bad dialogue. And since Loeb was only around for the one arc, the introduction of Romulus didn't mean anything until writer Daniel Way took the ball and ran with it in Wolverine: Origins.
On the upside, the arc did provide at least one good thing: A build for a Heroclix team. As Wolverine went off to chase down Sabretooth, he worked with other furry heroes in Sasquatch, Wolfsbane, Feral and Thornn.

Betray Everyone I've Ever Known: Thornn can use Shape Change. Always Stalking My Prey: Thornn can use Sidestep. Give Thornn a free action if she is within 3 squares and line of fire of an opposing character and place her adjacent to that character. I'm Better Alone: If Thornn isn't within 2 squares of a friendly character, increase her Shape Change roll by 2.
Why these figures - Hey, I've waited a long time for Feral to be clixed and now not only are we getting her, but her sister Thornn too? This build is really an excuse to play them the second I can get a hold of them. Anyways, that version of Sasquatch was selected because he's better than the Mutant Mayhem versions. That Wolfsbane is better than the WatX versions (also she doesn't have a trait that makes my brain bleed like the LE). Lastly, Wolvie got selected because he's got the Animal keyword to round this out into a generic keyword theme team.
Note: For an alternate 400 point build, you could ditch the ATA and that version of Wolverine and replace him with the version from the WatX gravity feed and Automatic Regeneration. You're no longer a theme team, and your opponent will probably hate you, but that Wolvie is definitely a force to be reckoned with.
Tips for running this team - This team is all about close combat. So bum rush your opponent, try to keep Sasquatch on his Outwit clicks, counter some defenses and B/C/F the hell out of things. But if you're going to do that, you may need a map that could help you make it to your opponent without getting shot to death. So pick that map carefully.
Let us know how did for you! Next week, it's another issue of Unclixed! Then in two weeks, it's an all new Comic Accurate featuring another Marvel team utilizing figures from Deadpool & X-Force!
thanks for the article. and yeah, crap story with even crappier ramifications (that just about everyone just ignores) but hey, it's a critter team that lets us field thornn
for a cardboardless build at the cost of theme team:
Least playable team I've seen in a long time. No Willpower or Carry to be found, let alone TK or HSS to help mitigate. I expect a lot of 0-3 results with this one.

If you're stating 0-3 as some sort of tournament record, I'd probably not recommend many builds from these articles for competitive play. But as Heroclix is supposedly more than just teams for tournaments, this should be fine.
Apologies if I came off snarky. I've read the articles and don't usually disagree with the builds, although my playgroup (non-competitive) ditched Feats years ago, which always seem to be featured. Building a team off a comic panel doesn't always produce solid math so we do what we must, so no fault there. This particular group just has no synergy, which is something I try to capitalize on even in casual formats. If you're building a team just to use a piece or few then you need to try to ensure you actually get to use the piece(s). This build probably won't net the desired result unless the opposing force has the same issues.
I enjoy the articles, they're always concise and thought out. The builds I tend to tweak since we don't use Feats but this one kinda boxes you in no matter what alternate you go for.
One of my favorite builds is 0 range blind fighting (range for all effects is adjacency only) which I think this could shine in. If the scenario were standard combat symbols only and no range I would run this in a heartbeat, just not for the run of the mill friendly game.
--and if you have to have range, the cute little Tab-ap Wolvie has similar stats and 4 range, but alas no Animal kw. (why is this tab-ap so cute? most tab-aps are fugly--Wolverine shouldn't be cute!)
although my playgroup (non-competitive) ditched Feats years ago, which always seem to be featured.
I'm of the mindset that Feats are a great point filler that don't tend to be as rough as a resource or a waste like a relic. And eagle-eyed posters might notice that I really only tend to use the same small selection of Feats, primarily because most have become fairly redundant as the game has chugged along. And certain feats I tend to select really just add an aspect that already exists otherwise, like Swingline for a character that could use some Improved Movement or Armor Piercing for someone who could use a lesser form of Precision Strike.
But back to the team; they definitely have a major disadvantage, which is why I suggest being careful to pick the right map. Something suited for close combat, like the Sinister prison or the YuGiOh labyrinth maps. Something that will allow you to cross the board without getting shot a million times first.

I love that Prison map and play it almost weekly because most of the folks at the local game shop don't work well in tight quarters maps. :D
